Have you ever been in love with your best friend? I think I'm in the worst case scenario right now, because he has a girlfriend of three years. We've been best friends for almost a year now... and let's say our friendship isn't "friendly" but to the point of boyfriend girlfriend... last year, he broke up with his girlfriend because he fell for me. Long story short, I didn't want to be the third person, because I had just gotten out of a relationship and he still admitted to loving his current girlfriend a lot. In the end, they got back together, and our friendship diminished...

I felt really heartbroken at one point because he chose her over me, but to some extent, I guess that's what I wanted to happen, so I never blamed him for anything. I guess it just sucks because I came after? But yeah, anyways, now he came back claiming... he still has feelings for me, and I didn't really know how to approach that. And... what's worse is that during the past month or so, he has cheated on his girlfriend with me... and I feel so guilty, yet he still claims he loves her. To everyone else and to myself, I probably look stupid saying that he is two timing the both of us, but we're best friends.

He makes it really confusing when we're close to the level of a romantic relationship where he tells me he loves me, to flat out rejecting me by saying "we're just friends, nothing more, nothing less" or going to call his girlfriend and ditching me. And it just sucks, because I can't avoid him no matter how much I want to. Because if I tell him how I feel, he always goes.. "but we're best friends." What I'm saying here is I don't want our friendship to end, I don't want to go back to that period where we didn't talk, because I care for him a lot. But I can't take it. It's just our chemistry - when we're together... it's not a friendship.

Maybe he using you as a backup plane or someone to fall back to if his relationship doesn't work out. I mean think about it. After he broke up with his girl, he comes to you. Then he gets back with her, and you're now just his friend all of a sudden.

The reason I say this, is because I had a best friend do me like this. I was always just her friend. She would always compliment me on how cute I was, and we even had very deep conversations. She gave me the impression that it was meant to be However, she would always say "we're just friends". I wasn't hurt by it, I understood, and so I moved on and started flirting with her best friend on a consistent basis. She then got upset with me and told me I was making her jealous. How she going to play games with me like that?

wow, you went through the same thing i went through, and still trying to handle right now.. except i never did anything with my best friend. he's confused by the way you put it. i don't think you should have feelings for him. you have to give them up, or at least try to. having a best friend can last for years, rather than having a boyfriend for a long time. i know it's awkward and hard, you wish that his girlfriend was you. and you wish you had the same connection with him when you guys were talking and were best friends. it's hard, mine is going to go on for 4 years now.. and i still don't think i'm over my guy best friend. although were not best friends anymore, and he's still going out with this girl. it sucks, you seem like you lost everything or nothing feels the same. but you really have to let go of his feelings for him and like try to be a best friend rather than a girlfriend and best friend at the same time. what he's doing is wrong.. and as a best friend you should tell him what you and him are doing wrong.

decide if you want him as your best friend or as your boyfriend. you'll have somewhere to start, rather than having mixed emotions. it'll help (: trust me ^__^. goodluck!

If I were you, I'd ignore him, after all that he did, I mean, HOW COULD HE CHOOSE A RANDOM CHICK OVER YOU? I would just forget about him, move on with my life. If He'd come back to me, I'd just tell him to buzz off, or like "You never even cared about me" (If He did, Why would he break up with his girlfriend, and then get back to her instead of getting along with me?)
Seriously, get on with your life, no point of just waiting for him to come back to you.
