noob/layout-setup problem, problem setting up new layout... can't figure out the template Options

So I'm quite new to blogger [I just set one up yesterday] and I'm trying to set up this layout. This is the current result.

I'm very new to blogger.com and I'm not very experienced with html stuff. I was able to set up the links, but that's the only part of my blog that works. I can't figure out why the time/date and archive parts won't work. :(
