This is the kind of stuff my professor talks about. About how Obama was elected clearly because of the media. The media is pretty much using Obama as a frontman, and they can then use him for their own social and political agenda.

blah blah blah potential for life. i feel no different after watching this than i did before. this is just like...the beethoven fallacy with obama put in for beethoven. it's a boring argument. you're killing potential life right now by posting on cb rather than having sex to give life to the potential for another obama. every second you aren't having sex you are killing off opportunities for potential greatness. every prevented rape is one more missed opportunity for another obama by that same idea.
i don't get people who think this is a compelling argument. what if obama had been aborted? shrugs, he wasn't, so i can't care. |

To consider this a good argument, you'd really have to put a lot of faith into the idea of destiny too. And that doesn't actually go too well with most conservative ideology.
I'm really doubting whether most of these people who go on about "the media" and their biases have ever actually taken a journalism course. |

yeah, i don't get the whole thing about the media. but like you said, they didn't make me think i wanted to vote for someone pro choice really. i'm pro choice anyway and i was way before i ever heard of obama

What does the media have to do about Obama's momma not aborting him? And I don't think the Catholic Voters of America is a part of the media that "made us vote for Obama."

Does obama support this video?
If he does its great. Cause everyone in texas dislikes obama and the wanted mcain to win and when i ask why they say cause he supports abbortion. and i say no he doesnt!? He supports it just as much a mcain. Im glad obama is president. And if obama supports this video my friends will get a bit of a kick! |

this doesn't change my opinion on abortion at all. i agree with Jc. President Obama wasn't aborted so what's the point of asking those kinds of what ifs? if he had been aborted there wouldn't be any discussion on the matter, let alone thoughts. i get that people are trying to get a point across but i don't think it's necessary for them to use Barack Obama as an example. maybe for some people it is.

Maybe I wasn't clear, but I was saying it is these kind of institutions who takes advantage of Obama, and use him as a tool for their own agenda. It's pretty similar to how Sanjay Gupta was put as Surgeon General. Yeah I agree that this video is pretty pointless in regards to that if he had been aborted there would be no black president today. But you know what, what about the millions of abortions that happens. MAYBE one of those babies could've grown up to do something BIG, had they not been aborted. I agree with JC, that it's pointless to think this way.

I don't understand why Obama's views on abortion even came up with that video ... there wasn't even a claim made regarding Obama's views. They just basically used him as a poster boy.

Because clearly CatholicVote is opposed to Obama's abortion policies. It may not have been spelt out, but there's no way that wasn't part of the point they were trying to make.
If we'd elected a president who wanted Roe v. Wade overturned, there would be no reason for this campaign to have been launched. |

Okay. Honestly. It's CatholicVote. They could've starred Goofy in that video, and we'd all still know they were pro-life.
IMO, it was pretty much a, "COULDA BEEN YOU, BITCH!" kinda guilt trip video. |

Obviously. But I'm sure they're aware that it should be more effective if they demonstrate with someone who doesn't share their views. If they were like OMG THE POPE COULD HAVE BEEN ABORTED, the point is less potent because he already understands that if his fetus were aborted, that would have been a lot of wasted potential or whatever. And it's supposed be geared towards people who voted for Obama...
