So I got this lotion set & body spray set from VS & I think I'm going to return it. I have too many of those & I can get something better. wink.gif

Do you guys return gifts that you don't like or do you just keep them?

I usually just keep them because I either don't have a way to return it or I'm too lazy. It doesn't hurt to just have it sit around I guess.

I'm going to return it to VS & get store credit. As far as the receipt thing, I probably won't need it. It still has the bar code sticker on it.

^ Usually you need some kind of receipt, which is essentially why stores offer gift receipts. _smile.gif

@topic -
Usually I don't return a gift that I dislike reason being because I'm too lazy to get around to it.

Most stores I hear of require a receipt for a full refund of cash. If you don't have a receipt they'll usually give you in-store credit, at least for most national chains.

Exactly.

But yes, I've exchanged presents before. Might as well if I can and don't like it. =p

Yes, I've exchanged/returned gifts before. Sometimes I regift them if I know someone who'd appreciate it more than myself. I don't feel bad about it because I'm sure some people return the gifts I give them, and some people regift crappy gifts they got to me. =\

Yesss. Some of the clothes I got were really horrible. Some of my relatives still shop at Children's Place and Gap for me crazy.gif
Most of the stuff I can't return, either. They don't seem to like putting in gift receipts either -_____-; So, I just give it away or something :\

I usually give people gift receipts, so it's not a big deal if they return something. I'd rather them return it and get something they like and are going to use rather than have the gift I got them just sit in their closet or something.

I've returned gifts before... sometimes it's awkward if someone bought you something and you return and he or she is like "Why don't ever wear or use what I got you?"

The ones I can return, I return. Nothing beats cash. Unless it's worth keeping (sometimes rare ?) Umm otherwise.. it's a reusable gift :D

I suggest a new approach - PASS IT ON. Don't like the gift you got? too ugly? too useless? no possibility for switching it at the store? Give it to somebody else as a gag, and be direct about it. Make it a joke you both can enjoy, and suggest the receiver to pass it on too, or use it for all kinds of freaky uses.

I hate regifting things, it's like the ultimate lazy ass thing to do. I feel uncomfortable doing it because it feels like a double-insult, one to the person who got you the gift, and the second to the person you're regifting it to.

I give gift receipts to those who aren't my immediate family.
Unless it was from my own store, then I return it for them if they don't like it, and i'll give them whatever was left, or nothing at all >:) hahha too bad!

Anyways to gifts I don't like, I usually would want to return it, regifting is always a possibility but to those, acquaintances people.

I hate it when they don't have reciepts for me, so i'm stuck with the ugly ass thing.
