I saw the movie Brick a few months ago, but I watched it again over Thanksgiving break and was impressed. I like the feel -- it has a neo-film noir kind of style, like the 1930s transplanted into the 21st century. The irony with the age of the characters is cool, too. When I first saw the movie, I missed the subtle humor in the fact that almost everyone in the film is still in high school, yet they're acting like adults -- it's an interesting twist and a fresh look at the adult world. Anyone else see it?

I haven't, but I read through the description and it looks pretty interesting. I just added it to my NetFlix queue so next round of mailings I should get it.
Thanks for the recommendation. :) |

it's alright. it's definitely a fun watch; it has some great irony (as you noted), and some really smart dialogue. but, altogether, weak performances and over-stylized direction, i think, really hurt the film. it goes from something original and intriguing, to something embarrassingly amateur. not a terrible directorial debut, and definitely worth looking at... but, still, kind of disappointing.
