I support freedom of religion and all, but I don't see any billboards advertising other religions. So...I guess it's only fair?

You're a proof of how the media has use Religion as a weapon for propaganda. You're delusional and blind, if you've never seen Religious advertisements and shit. It's f*cken everywhere, so open your damn eyes. Take for example the shopping bag of Forever 21. Look at the very bottom of the yellow bag, and tell me what it says. Also, go to In N Out burger, and look under the cup. Yeah, thanks come again. Hell, look at your damn US currency, and look where it says God Bless America. Religious propaganda is EVERYWHERE. rolleyes.gif

No, we just have to swallow religion everywhere else. How many times does a politicians' speech not mention God, for example?

Way to show freedom of speech.
I think that every church, and every religion should be able to have billboards like that.
As long as there not REALLY offensive, like "f*ck your god!".
But that billboard has absolutely nothing offensive on it.
There is a lot of people i know that don't believe in god and have no idea that there is a religion based on not believing in a god, because there family is so into church.
They had NO right to take that down, unless it was like right beside a church, but even then so.

Arent billboards taken down all the time? I heard that a scantily-clad model was taken down cause it was across the street from a church or schoolyard.

um.. Atheism isn't a religion, so it's not the same thing. That billboard is bashing millions of people. You are free to believe whatever you want, but you don't have to advertise that you believe in nothing.

However, everyone has the right of free speech, so it shouldn't have been taken down. But I don't know what FFRF thought they were going to accomplish with that board.

well when you're a minority & feel discriminated against & intimidated by a whole culture love drunk stupid off of religion... it may actually help some people to realize that there are a lot of other people who don't believe in god... and, instead, believe in themselves, or science, or film, or genetically engineered crops, or whatever.

in the grand scheme of things, atheists have a metric f*ck ton more reason to advertise & promote themselves in comparison to say, organized religion; most atheists don't have the option of scaring little kids into their beliefs with stupid fairy-tales. further, religion is everywhere... nearly everybody prescribes you... you f*ckers don't need a damn billboard, we do.

its a form of religion, but it just so happens you do not have to go to a church.
Because there isn't anything to worship.

I dont think that religion dominates the US. I think the opposite actually. Everywhere you look you see sex, drugs, harsh language. Everything that western religions do not tolerate. Even now with Prop 8, people are trying to overturn something that was voted in by the people. If that isnt imposing on people then I dont know what is.
I dont agree with the Billboard being taken down. I mean, I dont really care. Cause if enough people complain about something, then usually something is done about it. If a Christian billboard sign was taken down because people complained, I wouldnt be complaining either. I dont think either need it really. Cause Billboards dont really sway people either way.

EDIT: Except for the stupid ones.

oh shut the f*ck up, christians get all hard on that shit; your religion is about self-pity, self-loathing, and admitted unworthiness! it's a guilt fetish! not to mention, religion is socially constructed... obviously. with moving trends society, religion is bound to change (as we have seen). just because a catholic doesn't give too many shits about sex or the "f" word doesn't mean that they aren't still a component of a religiously dominated ideology.

civil rights > popular vote.
are you f*cking retarded? it took the supreme court to say that people of different races could marry... it nearly took a war to decide that black people couldn't be owned by white people... you want to talk about the imposition of people? consider the civil inequalities constantly and consistently attacked by religious fundamentalists and ignorant f*cking hicks. it's called the f*cking constitution you jackass.

My religion is not about self-pity, self-loathing, and admitted unworthiness. Ya, religion changes with society, but it doesnt change the religion. Christianity is still the same as it always has been... A catholic probably does care about sex.. but they have different ways of going about it. The US is full of atheistic things.. like sex and all that stuff that dominates the society... You cant say that you dont see things like that everywhere you go

They are still trying to overturn what the people voted in.
