I FINALLY GOT MY DAMNED SUBMENUS TO WORK IN ILLUSTRATOR!
turns out I wasn't holding down the button long enough for the menu to load or whatever. damn you to hell, Adobe, for causing me so much pain! just so this isn't considered spam...ever had one of those moments when you've been trying to figure out something with a program for THEE LONGEST TIME, and you just can't freakin' get it, then all of a sudden something happens and BAM it works? describe your emotional journey.
