QUOTE
LOS ANGELES, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Film writer and director John Hughes, whose credits include "The Breakfast Club" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," has died of a heart attack at age 59, his spokesman said on Thursday.

Hughes died suddenly while taking a morning walk in New York City, according to a statement from his spokesman. (Reporting by Dean Goodman, Editing by Bob Tourtellotte)

Between this and Michael Jackson's death, two very iconic 80's figure, it seems like a huge end of a very fun, albeit sometimes silly era. I grew up in the 80's and watched Hughes films often. It's a guilty pleasure at this time of my life, but it really makes me nostalgic.

I know that you guys are much younger than I am, but have you watched any of his films, odds are, you have. Any favorites?

sad.gif 80's films are where it's at. I used to watch his films with my mom all the time when I was little.

Oh man, so many wonderful moments in Sixteen Candles. It is one of most awkwardly funny movies made, in my opinion.

What's weird is that I'm not a big Ferris Bueller's Day Off fan. It's a fun movie, but not my favorite John Hughes film. I think my favorite John Hughes film is Weird Science. I have never watched that movie without experiencing a lot of laughter.

Wow Weird Science was such an awesome movie. I like it a lot more than Ferris Bueller's Day Off though tbh.

I hope they don't make a bunch of John Hughes RIP shirts. The Michael Jackson ones really annoy me. I hate that society worships the celebrities after they're dead and then when they were alive, they just ignored them and didn't give a shit about them.

It really does bug me.

^ Yeah, I saw a bunch of I <3 MJ shirts on sale at Bang On not even a week after he passed. It's insane how fast people will start trying to make money off of someone's death. And even more insane how some people will buy them.
