QUOTE LOS ANGELES, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Film writer and director John Hughes, whose credits include "The Breakfast Club" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," has died of a heart attack at age 59, his spokesman said on Thursday. Hughes died suddenly while taking a morning walk in New York City, according to a statement from his spokesman. (Reporting by Dean Goodman, Editing by Bob Tourtellotte) Between this and Michael Jackson's death, two very iconic 80's figure, it seems like a huge end of a very fun, albeit sometimes silly era. I grew up in the 80's and watched Hughes films often. It's a guilty pleasure at this time of my life, but it really makes me nostalgic. I know that you guys are much younger than I am, but have you watched any of his films, odds are, you have. Any favorites? Short List (not all inclusive) As Director # Uncle Buck (1989) # She's Having a Baby (1988) # Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987) # Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) # Weird Science (1985) # The Breakfast Club (1985) # Sixteen Candles (1984) As Producer # Home Alone (1990) (producer) # Christmas Vacation (1989) (producer) # Uncle Buck (1989) (producer) # The Great Outdoors (1988) (executive producer) # She's Having a Baby (1988) (producer) # Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987) (producer) # Some Kind of Wonderful (1987) (producer) # Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) (producer) # Pretty in Pink (1986) (executive producer) # The Breakfast Club (1985) (producer) |

So this is why "The Breakfast Club" was a trending topic on Twitter...

Oh man, so many wonderful moments in Sixteen Candles. It is one of most awkwardly funny movies made, in my opinion.
What's weird is that I'm not a big Ferris Bueller's Day Off fan. It's a fun movie, but not my favorite John Hughes film. I think my favorite John Hughes film is Weird Science. I have never watched that movie without experiencing a lot of laughter. |

Wow Weird Science was such an awesome movie. I like it a lot more than Ferris Bueller's Day Off though tbh.

Oh man, Uncle Buck and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. *sigh* Anything with John Candy freaking kills me. I loved that guy. Great director, its a loss that's for sure.

I hope they don't make a bunch of John Hughes RIP shirts. The Michael Jackson ones really annoy me. I hate that society worships the celebrities after they're dead and then when they were alive, they just ignored them and didn't give a shit about them.
It really does bug me. |

^ Yeah, I saw a bunch of I <3 MJ shirts on sale at Bang On not even a week after he passed. It's insane how fast people will start trying to make money off of someone's death. And even more insane how some people will buy them.
