Nope, not really. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, amirite?

No, it was funny at first, but now it's just plain annoying. Stop changing my avatar. You're only on staff cuz Rebecca has a crush on you.

Stick with your "tech support" shit, and leave the Avatar shit alone.

Isn't Michael changing Tung's avatar a type of mod power abuse?

^x2 It is, and even after Tung clearly expressed his annoyance over it. I don't think they need to argue over this over PMs because Michael should just stop changing the avatar or face some sort of consequence, no matter how trivial you think this incident is. There's a fine line between having a sense of humour and just being a jackass.

Tung didn't "blast" it, he was just saying how annoyed he was, and I don't think there's anything wrong in letting other people know what has happened.

I don't really think he put Michael on blast about it shrug.gif Michael probably knew Tung would say something. And, yes, Michael should stop. Changing the bad word censors should have been enough for him to get his shits and giggles.

Edit: Whoops, I was typing while others were posting...

I gotta hand it to Tung, he was pretty clever in taking this public, rather than simply offering a clever riposte, which would've been more fun.

First of all, to those who claim this is "power abuse", chill out. These are Internet forums. They're supposed to be fun, as long as no one gets hurt. Take a breather.

Secondly, let's put this practical joke in perspective:
  1. Way back in April 2008, I rejoined CB after a one-year hiatus, and posted in the thread I am intimidated by long topics!. Some guy named Tungster (his username at the time, if I recall) made a snarky comment about me. I didn't really know the dude, and figured he was just joking around -- giving the new guy a gentle ribbing -- so I didn't bother responding.
  2. A few weeks or so later, the same dude posts something in my user comments that pokes fun at my user picture. Again, didn't know who the guy was, figured he was just joking around, so I deleted the comment and ignored it. BFD, this is the Internet, who cares?
  3. Then in September, the same dude posts the same comment in my comments again. Being a seasoned Internet forum user with a sense of humor, I decide to offer a snarky comeback, on the apparently mistaken assumption that this is a joke. In retrospect, my comment perhaps "hit a bit too close to home", but this is all in good fun, right? Tungster offers a rejoinder, and I don't bother responding.
  4. A bit later, in some thread in Relationships that I can't seem to find now, I poke a jab back just for the hell of it. Tungster makes a quippy comeback, and that's that.
  5. Then Tungster decides to up the ante and publicly called me a f*g. I consider asking Dani or Rebecca to warn him, since I don't feel comfortable doing it myself, but then I think, "Nah, that's no fun -- how about a little prank?" So I changed his avatar. BFD, it's a funny, topical prank and no one gets hurt.
  6. Tungster gets his panties in a twist and posts about it here.
So this is all really a joke that just got out of hand.

tl;dr If Tung wants to talk smack about members, he should be prepared to reap the whirlwind.

WOW that's detailed for something that's meant to be in good "fun".

And when was it ever a good justification to say, "Well, he started it"? <- Obviously paraphrased.

Hey, not saying that Tung is an angel, in fact he's far from it, but if he wants you to stop, then stop. Simple as that. It's childish to do otherwise.

Besides, to egg someone on using your admin powers...yes that's power abuse. The definition doesn't change with the context, no matter how trivial (you think) it is.

Gigi, I don't see how it's okay for someone to call me a f*g, but when I do something as benign as changing his avatar (to something that's not even offensive, no less), it's inappropriate. There's a clear double standard here.

Ok, so I just found out about this. I've had some stuff to deal with of a personal nature.

Honestly, I could give a crap what Tung and Michael think of each other. I don't get the "I have a crush on Mipadi" thing other than a desperate attempt to humiliate me because you're pissed off at what someone else did. Michael DID help us on when we were in a bind. I didn't see Tung offering any help or advice when the queue fiasco occurred so you can stop including me in your petty little arguments. I mean, maybe I have a crush on Tung, since I was for his being promoted to People Staff. Whatever. Some of you act like little children, I swear.

No, I don't agree with Michael changing avatars. I don't agree with Tung talking shit all the time either. Hell, there's A LOT I don't agree with as far as what people say at this forum. OH WELL.

This will be taken care of one way or another. God forbid I take a couple of weeks off to deal with family concerns and have a little me time.

^ LOL ilu Rebecca.

I never said it was okay. But just because someone did it before, doesn't mean that you should do it again, even if there is a double standard (which should be addressed). You're better than that. Rebecca's right in saying that you guys act like children sometimes, seriously.

The queue related issues are directly related to why Michael was put into the position he is in. =/
