Photoshop CS3 question, saving files to my computer Options

well for some weird reason, whenever i try to save a picture i edited in photoshop to my pictures folder, it won't save.
it will save but when i go to my picture's folder, it's not there. :/

can anyone tell me why and how to fix this?
i've tried saving it as a .gif file, PNG file, JPEG file.
i've tried clicking "save as..." and "save for web and devices"
it still won't work. :/
whenever i tried to save my picture as a "PNG file" it said it couldn't save because of a disk error?

i'd like to get really good at photoshop but i don't see the point when my files don't even save to my pictures folder. :(

Can you make us a screen shot of all the errors and problems it says?
We'd like to help, but we need some visual aid.

Can you save anything else (pictures from the internet, Word documents, etc.)? If you can't, it's not the program that's the problem.
