I always have the same problem.
I figured it's cause I'm scared to really connect with them. [Maybe that's the same issue you're having.]
You know, that I'm really nervous.

When I like a guy, my whole body responds to it.
I get butterflies in my stomach, my knees literally buckle, so if I look the guy straight in the eyes, I'm afraid I could get faint.

^ Me neither. I went to buy some concealer today, and the male (obviously gay) makeup artist tried some on me, and I felt soooo uncomfortable to look at his face, and his eyes when he was talking to me. Which is what I should do, but I was so close to him that it was just strange.

If it's people that I'm not familiar with or don't know very well, I have a hard time talking them directly in the eyes. I need to feel a little more comfortable around them to be friendly enough to look into their eyes.

I sometimes feel awkward when I talk to anyone, because... where do I look?

But I usually look at their eyes. I don't know, it just feels the most normal to me. Unless they're really close, like Gigi said... then it just feels creepy.

I don't have a problem looking people in the eyes. I'm sure that creeps them out, haha. Usually, if I don't look someone in the eyes when I'm talking to them, then I'm looking all over the place and they will probably think I don't want to hear what they have to say.

When it's someone who's really close to me, which doesn't happen often, it feels awkward to look them in the eyes. I don't know... it feels like it's a little too intimate to be staring a stranger in the eyes when they are really close to your face.

Really??
I have the exact opposite problem...
I can look at random strangers straight in the eye.
&&
I can with my friends.

But with my boyfriends its like their eyes are sooo INTENSE.
I feel with every guy that I have dated that they have a power to make me faint if I look them in the eye.

So I guess its the exact opposite and more.
Haha

Eh, my dad always tells me it's rude to not look someone in the eyes when talking to them.

Usually I don't... but that's mainly because it tires my eyes to focus on one thing for so long x__o;

I can look strangers and other people I know in the eyes when I talk to them. It's the polite thing to do, of course.

But when it's someone I'm interested in, this simple act becomes that much harder.

I can look people in the eyes, unless I feel like they are staring at me.
Like, if I feel like they are looking me over to find my flaws, or check me out, suddenly I just can't keep eye contact anymore.
But, I totally can with my boyfriends.

I have a really hard time looking anyone in the eye, although I do find it's harder with stangers. Not sure why. It's like those dreams people (including me) sometimes have where you should be looking at someone/something, but you just can make you head/eyes turn the right way. So I usually either look at my/the other person's shoes, everywhere, the wall behind them, or sometimes I'll find myself examining their teeth.

i think it looks ridiculous when you dont make eye contact and advert your eyes somewhere else. It makes me think that the girl is disinterested or super shy. which is a turnoff.

i had a problem looking my boyfriend in the eye early on in the relationship but once we got passed a lot of things and became extremely comfortable with each other, i was able to look him in the eye more and now we're so close that it never feels awkward.
