QUOTE
Inflation reached a 17-year high last month, fueled by high gasoline and food prices, all but assuring that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates on hold for the time being.

Consumer prices were 5.6 percent higher last month than they were in July 2007, a brisker pace than economists had expected, the Labor Department said on Thursday.

That was the sharpest annual increase since January 1991, as Americans paid more for clothing, food, transportation and recreational products

the food prices are what kill me. every time i leave the store i feel like i spent a ton of money, but when i get home i realize i really didn't get all that much for it.

Gas is going down, but food continues to rise. When I buy food now, I buy in bulk so that I can spread out my money wisely.

The prices for food is ridiculous. I remember being able to get a bunch of green onions for a dollar. Now it almost costs 2 dollas for a bunch.

Veggies are super high, its really sad. I had to go grocery shopping and I spent quite a bit, I was really disappointed on how much things have gone up to be.

Gas has gone down here though. I don't know how high it got over $4, but it has gone down to 3.66

! That's pretty pricey in itself, but it has gotten higher. I'm wondering how my sister is paying for all the organic food that she buys. She shops at Whole Foods, which is pricier than Henry's and Trader Joe's. <3 Trader Joe's, btw. :3 My mom usually buys groceries. whistling.gif

Fortunately gas prices have gone down, although not by much considering we were paying less than $4 a gallon last year (for PREMIUM 91 octane gasoline). BLEH.

lol it's like $1.39/liter in Canada, so my boyfriend's cousin spends about $90 CAD to fill up her CAMRY (older one). I think it only takes $70 to fill up the same camry in the US. So I guess it's not so bad.

Gas isn't terrible here. It could always be cheaper, though.

I buy frozen veggies, because they last longer. And I get them for, like, $1.98, so I can deal with that price.

I don't buy in bulk, because I eat a lot of fresh things sad.gif

LMAO

My mom buys organic too, and I'm kind of wondering why she keeps doing so. And she complains all the time about the prices, too.

If you're talking about instant ramen, they are very high in sodium... whistling.gif But they are cheap, lol.

I can't eat Ramen. Too much sodium. :[

Rice works though. Lots of rice.

I have had to do the frozen vegetables thing too recently, which sucks because fresh is always better.

Well, look on the bright side. This might help with the obesity epidemic.
