^ Yeah, but...why? Athens was 4 years ago.

I think they tried to make it all hip and cool like the Londoners are nowadays (think House of Holland and Agyness Deyn), but it really ended up looking f**ked up LOL. I wanna see their presentation thinger at the Closing Ceremony.

To the Canadians out there - God, do you remember the one Vancouver did at Turin 2006? Holy crap. Basically it was a bunch of dudes in fur-trimmed coats skating around f**kin' IGLOOS, and then f**kin' Avril Lavigne sang. SHE'S NOT EVEN FROM B.C. - HER NAME IS FRENCH FOR "APRIL" FOR GOD'S SAKE. Way to reinforce stereotypes that don't even apply in Vancouver - it snows like, what, 5 days a year? They should've had a few guys do a musical number to "Singin' in the Rain" or something, at least that would have been meteorologically correct.

But haha.

^ That one does look better but it's like...flavourless. It shows you absolutely nothing about the city.

EDIT// You edited it, lol. But my comment still applies to it. Doesn't really show much about the city at all, but it's more creative fosho.

Everything about this logo evokes China. Take away the words and you'd instantly know - from the red stamp-like/stone-cut image, to how the person in the image forms the character "Jing", as in "Beijing".

Oh man, I didn't see the Closing Ceremony in 2006! Avril Lavigne? Are you serious? = =''

And I think London's trying to make it look Greekish because the Olympics originated in Greece?

But also, it just doesn't even...look Greek to me? Even if they did borrow the look from the Greek, that just shows how lame their logo designer really was. I mean, you can't be inspired by London, and you have to turn to another country (although, the original place...but still)? That would be sad. I hope it was otherwise.

To be fair though, the Beijing Olympics took influences from all cultures in China (which is...a LOT more than London/UK), and all over their looooong history, so basically, their options were infinite. I don't really think they cared about making a logo that suited everybody because it's not possible, the culture is most definitely not that unified. I would imagine it to be different in London though.

EDIT// For the record, y'all...
This is how I prefer to look at Michael Phelps:

Maybe minus the cereal advertising.

The 2012 logo reminds me of the 80s.
But the bad part of the 80s that we all try to forget.
Seriously, you'd think London would come up with something more representative of their British culture.

How about a tea-and-crumpet set spelling out London 2012??

i watched that. jamaica was gettin it a little too easy if you ask me mad.gif actually i don't know, maybe he's that fast. i've read a bunch of conspiracy theories about how he's on something, so my opinions are all f**ked up now.

dude was so cocky though that i couldn't even end up rooting for him. i was getting tired of him showin off before the race even started.

Has anyone watched Rhythmic Gymnastics?

Sometimes, I just wonder...WHY is this an Olympic sport? When I watch it I'm comparing it to Artistic Gymnastics and I laugh a little.

I agree.
I couldn't feel good for him when he won cause he was so arrogant and annoying.
All those things he did when they were introducing him to the crowds and whenever the cameras are on him.
Ugh.
I'm sure he's the kind of guy who thinks that cheesy things are cool when they...well, aren't.

"The 200m has been my love since I was 15. I was the youngest-ever to win the world junior championship. From that day on, it has been dear to my heart. I did a lot of work on the 200m and everything came together tonight. I blew my mind, and then I blew the world’s mind" (Usain Bolt).

Women's 10m Platform Final, as well as Jeremy Wariner and Allyson Felix on the track tonight. thumbsup.gif

^^ Well, Bolt did blow the world's mind somewhat.
But..eh. His ego's off-putting.

Yay for diving!
And the Professor and Dalhausser in the finals!

I heard about this a while ago, week i believe. Sucks for them but they should have known better. Is it a he or she, they kept throwing 'he' into the article like it was a he instead of a she o_O Maybe I wasn't paying attention enough.

I only watched all of the womens gymnastics. USA 1 and 2
