Oh man, that Japanese dude f**ked up hardxcore on that vault. Jesus.

Am I the only one who thinks that, in comparison to uneven bars, the parallel bars are lame? The high bar isn't as lame as the parallel bars, but it's not as awesome as the uneven bars.

what sports will you be following/watching?

I'm just watching whatever's on at the moment. I really like swimming and gymnastics; haven't seen any diving yet.

I got so excited when SNSD's (So Nyeo Shi Dae) "Girls' Generation" was played after one of the men's swimming rounds. <3

One of my old schoolmates is in the Olympics! Sandra Fong, 18, a markswoman. happy.gif

OOh!
I'm watching Indonesia vs. Korea in mixed badminton right now.
The Indonesian team is really good.
I think we're tied now.

Btw, there's a bunch of new hotties this year:
1. Alexander Artemev (Gymnastics)
2. David Boudia (Diving)
3. Thomas Finchum (Diving)
4. Peter Vanderkaay (Swimming)
5. Cullen Jones (Swimming)

and then there is, of course, Michael Phelps who looks eternally hot [to me, at least].

Kyle Shewfelt's pretty okay too. And he kind of reminds me of my physics teacher. xD

^ OMG that looks Photoshopped! Must have been horrible! Someone is SO gonna write FAIL on it and put it here: http://failblog.org/

And omg you guys, seriously? Michael Phelps? Hot? He looks better in action with that body, but dude. He totally got hit with the ugly stick.

Or, the ugly lower-half-of-the-face stick at least. Still, definitely an athlete I respect. Oh, but how I miss Ian Thorpe.

Can't wait til tomorrow! Women's Gymnastics Team Final and Men's Diving Sync 3m Springboard.

Yeah. I'm not a fan of his face either. Oh man, when USA won the relay and he was yelling... NBC played it in slow motion and I swear he got hit with the 'tard stick.

I love Phelps' face!

Thorpe shouldn't have retired so early in my opinion.
He could've competed in this Olympics too.

Yes, cheating ruins my entire perspective for communist China's sports. How could their government let it slide? ;[

Like Gigi said in the other thread, is there any proof that China cheated? If there was any suspicion that they did, the officials would have taken over and investigated everything.

It really really pisses me off when people just jump into conclusions about China. Yes, it's a communist country, but does this have anything to do with the Olympics? f**k that.

Well, the officials went by the athlete's passports, which said they were all (15 going on) 16, but when the country is the one issuing the passports...

People aren't really jumping to conclusions since the youngest Chinese athletes look YOUNG, like 13-14 young. Communism doesn't have anything to do with the Olympics, BUT putting out a strong showing means everything. They want to claim their place in the modern world (to which they have every right). Sometimes it seems like they'd amount to anything to look good in the world's eyes (i.e. the lip synching child in the opening ceremonies).

We all know that China's doing almost everything possible to make sure that those who came for the Olympics get their money's worth, etc.

Knowing that, can you really put the whole gymnastics thing past them?
Sure, the girls are amazing, but a lot of them really look younger than sixteen. Some look like they're barely 13!
The suspicion is valid.
And it's not because China's a communist country or anything.

If America [or any other country for that matter] had chosen to send athletes that obviously look younger than the lowest alloted age, the same suspicions would arise.
