good movie. heath did a good job, but the only reason they considering him for a grammy is because he died not soley based on his performance. not saying he isn't deserving of it.

hm. no offence but i doubt they would be giving it to him because he died.
Heath did such an incredible job doing the joker.
I mean i almost want to go back and watch the movie just because of him *u*

Okay, I finally watched it last night...
AND IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING!!!

But to be perfectly honest, even though it was totally awesome... it didn't really meet my expectations.

I think my mom had that same reason to for not entirely liking it

Don't get me wrong, I really did love it! And it is all the way up there for best super hero movie ever. Plus, Heath Ledger did a fantastic job playing Joker and scared the living hell out of me. But I think it was all the hype - people were telling me it would be 10 times better than anything I could ever imagine, that I would be blown right out of my seat. So I kept that in mind... and I don't know, it just didn't make me go ZOMFG THAT WAS THE BEST THING I HAVE SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE PRAISE CHRISTOPHER NOLAN!!!!!

It's hard to explain. =\

My friends are being nubs.
They'd rather see 'Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging' than The Dark Knight stubborn.gif

WTH there's a movie for Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging?! I didn't know that. I only read the book, but I remember not enjoying it much...it was pretty much her saying "Oh, he is so hot. He is a sex god. I want him to notice me." I thought she was a pretty lame character.

I loved this movie. Christian Bale, Heath Ledger et al. were great. Rest in peace, Heath, and thanks for an awesomely psychotic Joker. "Why so serious?" _smile.gif

I'm Not There is next on my list of must-sees. It has the Bale/Ledger dynamic duo, alongside Marcus Carl Franklin, Ben Whishaw, Richard Gere, and Cate Blanchett. And all their respective characters portray Bob Dylan.

I felt the same way. While I was walking out of the threatre I told my friends that it was great movie on it's own, but that from all the hype around it, I was expecting something that would make me want to give a standing applause, or piss my pants, or some type of reaction.

^ I think the reactions that you've heard from other people or the reviews and raves that you've read, added to how long you waited to watch the movie from when it came out add up to how impressed you really are with it. At least, at the end of the day, we all agree it's a great movie. Maybe not (as you said), piss-your-pants FANTABULOUS, but still great.

It's a little different from what I call the Juno-effect, since Juno was well received by many people early on, but sort of died as more people watched it. Juno is an acquired taste, so while the hype was there, not all people agreed it was good. But with the Dark Knight, most, if not all people, agreed that it was a good movie.

I watched the movie on the second day of its release, and only after watching one review from Ebert and Roeper, so I wasn't expecting the amazingness that it was - so I really did want to piss my pants. Okay, not really. But everyone in the theatre did give it a standing ovation.
