I get A LOT of calls from 800/888 numbers, both on my cell phone and my home phone. I know I need to do the blocking thing, but it keeps slipping my mind (or I just get too damn lazy to do anything about it).

Of course, a few of those 800/888 callers are from collections (oops :x) but the vast majority are telemarketers.

Anyway, I make it a point to NEVER answer a call coming from an 800/888 number.

Any of you avoid certain calls on a regular basis?

I literally just registered my number in the dnc after reading this thread. They call at the most rude times of the day.

Damn, I hate 800/888 numbers.
I tend to avoid phone calls altogether. I really don't like talking on the phone much, so I just let it ring and force my parents to answer. >__>

I used to avoid all telemarketers by just saying, "She's not available right now" when they asked for my mom.

I don't need to anymore since my family doesn't have a land line anymore; we all just use our cell phones.

I get weird 800 numbers that call me. I also get calls from Las Vegas and Pheonix... which is just weird.

A while ago, I had to call the people who manage all the phones for the jails and prisons across the US, because someone from the county jail kept calling my cell phone and when I would pick up it would disconnect. They called at really weird hours, too.

It might be bill collectors! Or people trying to sell you life insurance. Don't give out your cell on applications. Only your house phone. If they keep calling change the number or shut off the ringer!

I don't normally get 800 numbers unless I signed up on a green site to get some free cash XD

Other than that, well if I don't know the number, then I don't answer it.

I don't even answer my home phone, but on my cell phone, I usually just get calls from my cell phone provider or something about credit cards. I usually just say no and hang up promptly. lol My boyfriend gets at least one call a month about his credit card because they want him to purchase certain monthly protection plans, and he tells them no. They even call his house! They haven't done that to me, but they're annoying because they keep talking and he's not the type of person to leave people hanging, but at the end of the calls he would yell at them and tell them that they keep calling him even though he says no. Quite sad. ;x

I think my mom registered my cell on the DNC list a while back. I've never gotten a call and I just totally forgot about it. xD

I don't really ever get cold-calls, but I can't just ignore them, because they come up as Anonymous in my cell, which is annoying, be cause both my home phone and my workplace register as anonymous, so it's not soething I can just ignore.

ditto. when we didn't have caller i.d. and i'd answer i always said that whoever they were asking to speak to was not available. i was never rude or anything because i know that they're doing their job but i hatd talking to telemarketers. i didn't register my number with the dnc thing, but i always screen my calls and never answer 800/888 or unknown numbers.

we have all of our numbers on the DNC list, but we still get a lot of 800/888 calls. dad's taken it as far as to call the authorities about it. XD.gif
