In elementary school, most of the food is high in fat.

Don't I know it... I just have to look at the kids in my neighborhood...........

Haha...yeah
Me too, they're all pretty chubby and then laziness starts occuring in Elementary school. Slowly it adapts into their lifestyle. Kids start disliking PE in elementary...I remember I did, but I'm not obese. I now work out and stuff, well mostly because of my mom. She has another big influence in me.

Yesterday, as I was waiting in the Spider Man 2 line ( laugh.gif ), I saw a family of 3. The father was obese and he had two sons. They were also obese and I saw how they were munching down on popcorn (bigger than the size I got) and candy...it was just, wow.

Haha, I don't know why I said that, but I just saw them eating away and there their father was eating along with them.

It was a bad sight.

yea, and learn that too much of anything is not a good idea.

this might be insensitive, but i think people that are over-weight only have themselves to blame, no one can make them eat, they put the food in their own mouths. People just need to practice self-control, if you eat then exercise, you are not going to be fat, that's just a fact of life.

Yea, i mean no one is forcing you to go and eat fast food. You can always just go run around the block and stuff.

I think that it's better for human rights to let people do what they want -- and suffer the consequences -- than to tell people what they can and cannot eat.

Mm.. I think they should tell them what to eat, but not force them to eat it.. inform the people, but give them the choice

Make physical education compulsary (and strict!) and have it minimum 2 times a week.

That's it? My school has it every day. 5 unprepareds = fail for the marking period = summer school for gym [1 mp failed = 2 1/2 hours each day for 6 days] and the state of new jersey (where I live) requires you to have gym all four years of high school in order to graduate.

Not necessarily true, some people have disorders and things that make them overweight/obese. And before a certain age, parents are responsible for feeding and making food for their kids. A kid who gets healthy meals and fruit and vegetables will be better off when they're older than one that eats lunchables and chef boyarde.

but i think...they should have a treatment for obesity...so they can learn not to eat a lot of junk foods every day and nite. kinda like a boot camp u know watta my sayin`?

Well I'm guessing that's what fat camps are for?

well its the parents job to feed the kids the right stuff. if the cafeteria food is high in fat bring your own lunch that is low in fat. and its just got to do with being lazy... go for a walk everyday..its not THAT hard.

Make physical education compulsary (and strict!) and have it minimum 2 times a week. Healthier food in cafetaria..more awareness education about the dangers of obesity etc. and of coure the benefits of being healthy and in the "recommended" weight range.

pe is already 5 days a week.. `nd if u play sports `nd ur in season then ur stayin after school for antoha 2 - 3 hours.. so i think its on the person to get out `nd play a sport.. or sum sort like that

nothin, people are obese because they want too, they just get lazy and put excuses, im talking from experiance i used to weight over 300 pounds till like 2 years ago or something when I remember thsi one girl i liked called me F*CKIN UGLY at the beach, only thing is she didnt know i heard her. cuz she was on a blind date with me lmao, point is i heard hell tell someone that was with us that I was f**kin ugly, i remember that day i left the beach, that minute everyone was calling me back as to why im leaving i just ignored them, and by some luck I passed by this news stand so yeah I start looking at the magazines and i see a magazine called MENS HEALTH, and it shows a fitness model showing his gazilllion pack abs and he was smiling at a beach, and i dunno i think thats what inspired me, then when i got back into martial arts i would train hard, i got into a diet, and id do some of the workouts in the magazine, I am not in perfect shape but i lost almost all the wieght, i only got a few pounds to go, i cant wait!

obesity can be blamed on ppl not teaching kids what they need to know about growing up and their physical health. Also genetics i guess

well, they'll die out eventually. like in 1000 years, all the people who become obese easily will have no decendants.

unless, the world blows up and then, those that store fat well will become dominate.

the government should impose a drought. half the food that the US usually consusmes is to be sold to other nations.

First you'd have to seize it from the farmers, which would require paying back the farmers, which would mean raising taxes. Since the government (and other ogvernments) can't do anything right, we'd be selling at a huge loss, and there would be taxes and MUCH higher food prices -- lower living standards here.

but we wouldn't be obese!!!

we must stop obesity!! it's terrorism!!!!

haha. i don't really think my idea will work. but it's funny. to me, at least. how obesity used to be a personal problem, but it's now a matter of national security.
