So...my hair is really, really damaged from straightening it all the time & I was thinking of using one of those hot oil things that you buy from the store (like the Alberto VO5 ones), but I'm not sure if it'd really work.

Have any of you ever tried it? Or know any other good way to somehow un-damage my hair?

These might be of help to you.

I don't know if there's any risks involved since I've never done hot oil treatments on my hair.

I straighten my hair a lot also, try and put some heat prtecting products before you use the hair iron. Once a week I use a leave in conditioner and then maybe once or twice a month I go into my hair salon and do deep conditioning. It makes my hair soft but I don't know about oil. Oh yeah, trim your hair ever 3 months.

Oil isn't really made to repair hair. You're better off saving your money and going the deep conditioning route instead. Pick up some good shampoos and conditions that help you hair keep moisture locked in. As far as the deep condition goes, make sure that it's a protein conditioner, because it will absorb into the hair cuticle and strength the hair. You should really use it on freshly washed hair that has been "blotted" with a towel. So it's not dripping wet.

Yeah I didnt know they were for that. When I went and got my hair cut, a (hot) girl next to me had oil in her hair when cutting it. Go for the deep conditioning, try garnier frutis products if on a budget.

i agree with karmakiller, invest in shampoos and conditioners meant to improve heat damaged hair & try to get a deep conditing done. also like someone mentioned before make sure you're using some kind of heat protection product when using a flat iron or blow dryer. it might take a while but if you take care of your hair from here on you'll notice a difference.
