I'm about to go to a Kaplan audition (for teaching SATs) next week and one of the requirements is to make a 5 minute "presentation." The presentation's supposed to be me teaching a classroom something that is non-academic related (an example they gave was "how to read a wine label"). The purpose is to see how I interact with people when I try to teach something that I'm interested in.
I need to utilize the audience and a blackboard, but can't have any props. I'm really not sure what I would teach. I thought maybe I can give a 5-min presentation about "how to navigate through NYC" and go through the rules of subways, avenues, blocks, different neighborhoods, etc., but... idk. Seems like it might take more than 5 min. I've played piano for almost all my life, but I'm not too sure if there's anything in that subject I can really "teach" about without having some sort of visual. Anybody have any ideas about what to "teach"? |
