So i should be registering in a Community College near me sometime next year. The thing is i just dont know what i want to do! For the last three maybe four years, i've been really interesting in Web Design. I'm very passionate about that; i mean i can see myself doing that as a long term career. I love Web Design because it's something fun but i know it would get stressful with the customers; I can work/or take courses online for Web Design, So if i choose to get pregnant i can work from home; it'd be easy. Web Design is just great it's as simple as that for me. But..Then theres Criminology i've started taking a big interest in that field due to Law & Order, CSI and all those shows including Court TV shows. Criminology seems very interesting and i can see myself doing that as well, and i've actually went over some chapters in a few study guides & key terms i found online; im still interested. The thing is i know with Web Design i can make have some good cash rollin in. But with Criminology i heard they really dont make much. Hey it's not all about the money but i'd like to do something i like AND make some fly cash. So i'm really contemplating between the two, but my friends are not making it any easier for me. My friend wants to be a OBY/GYN something like that and she and i always talk about Medical stuff right, and they make mad cash and to be in the Medical Field i think i would like it; to be an R.N or something. I'm not really to fond completely about being a nurse, to be honest im really just liking the cash they make. But i dont want to waste my time and choose Web Design then change my mind later and go back to do Criminology. I dont have the money to waste like that. stubborn.gif

Can anyone help me? I just needed to get that off my mind it's been bugging me; i cant sleep because of it. Everyone is telling me i need to choose now because i dont have much time left.

Has anyone ever experienced something similar to this? Please no dumb comments like "shut up or pick one and get over it" i know some people here are like that.

MOVED TO SCHOOL

why don't you start by taking classes in both areas and then choose the one you like better after a semester or whatever. it's only CC. are you planning on going to college?

^ Lol i felt in the lounge i'd get more help? instead of putting it in School. But yes i plan on going to college sometime next year because i want to work a bit until i go to college and save up money then continue to work while im in college. Im trying to save money because i refuse to ask my parents since my dad had a major heart attack and pays a bunch of money for prescriptions and Doctor apts & not to mention his stay at the hospital for a few weeks - they have enough bills they need to pay instead of worrying about me.

The lounge is more for random stuff that doesn't necessarily fit in the other categories. You will get better answers by members who frequent the ACADEMIA > SCHOOL forum, imo.

But I think that it's good that you are considering working first, because you don't want to be taking out any loans or anything.. Take out as little loans as possible. You'll be fine if you enter college late. My friend was in and out of college and he's only 1 grade above me, but he's like 3 years older than me lol.

Anyways, I am kind of in a similar situation, but I am better off because I am already in a university and all my finances are cleared, since I get financial aid. I suggest that you apply for that -- it's free and you might even get a grant, or the prices for classes with be subsidized (you might pay half the price for each unit).

Back to the subject. I want to go pre-dental, so my major is declared as human biology. But, I realized that I don't need to take all those biology courses, and most of them don't seem to interest me as much as I thought they would. I've been taking some political science classes at my university and it seems so much more appealing to me. But since I am already on the whole pre-dental track, I decided that I would just major in political science and then take the required classes for dental school.

As for political science, I actually also don't mind going to law school -- it seems interesting, but being a lawyer will probably be more difficult than being a dentist, imo. But I honestly think that it would work for me, because I am really interested in it. Of course, I am still interested in being a dentist, but fortunately for me, I can still have my backup plan in case anything falls through.

I hope this helps -- I'm just saying that if both things interest you, you should consider taking courses on BOTH subjects -- see which one works out for you. You don't have to be in a rush. ;x
