My man is being sent to court on may the 20th to pay child support.

He has a three year old that he didntknow about untill just recently.

Not saying that its a bad idea. I definatly think he should pay it. but he was wondering if he were to give up his parental rights if he would have to pay or not. because he said he would never be able to see the kid because it is 14 hours away and she doesnt want him to..

just some insight would be nice.
would this work?

I believe thats something that has to be worked out between the mother and the father. pinch.gif Technically, the mother can find a way to get the father to pay for child support. I'll have to look into that, I know that my mother doesn't pay for my child support though (even though they're divorced and I live with my dad.)

The way I understand it, the more he sees the child, the less he pays. So if he isn't seeing the child at all, he should anticipate paying more than if he were to be seeing the child.

I'm a single mom who isn't receiving child support (I won't get into detail for personal reasons) but I have looked into the varying outcomes of child support negotiations.

He should pay child support no matter what the situation is, but I can understand why he'd be reluctant to do so because the mother doesnt want him to be part of the child's life, yet she wants his money at the same time. But if he's a man, he'll pay the child support because regardless of whether or not he's able to see the kid, it's still his kid. He should want to pay child support, as it will be the only thing he'll be able to do for his child.

Child support issues can be a mess. My brother has a child with a woman that he doesn't get along with. (She told him she was pregnant the day he went to break up with her). It's messy for him because he's in the service and is stationed there... and so on. Anyhoo, I think some of it would depend on the state where you live. Where I live the laws are a lot different than where my brother lives.

First, if he didn't know about the child after this long at all I think a DNA test is in order, either way, its worth it.

First, find out if the kid is actually his. If not, then you shouldn't have to make him pay it. If it is, he should want to. I can also if he is shut out from the kid's life; then I'm not sure? :\
