So, apparently I need a Camera and a Video Camera.

I'm trying to find out a good camera (good quality photos) and video camera. Does anyone know any good ones? Or good brands? Please don't give me cameras/vcameras that are like 1k+, I can't afford those. lol. I've been browsing around the Frys site but I don't know if it's good or not.

So, I need some suggestions.

i own this sort of cheapy one, but its not half bad, bit better than the price you pay for. Its like an Aiptek brand I think, got it for under 100 and the camera is 6.1 megapixels if that helps.

are you looking for an dSLR-type camera? nikon and canons are nice. :D the nikon D40 is around $450, i think (with lens). at least that's what my friend told me. and this canon eos digital rebel xt that i saw at radio shack was on sale for $350 (with lens), but they only had one in stock.

or maybe a point and shoot with a body of a dSLR? i just recently bought a fujifilm s700 for CHEAP and it takes awesome shots. (check my flickr!) i got it cause' i'm taking this class for the next three years of high school where it's all about photography, video editing, and all that good stuff. it's a really great camera without those costly and fragile interchangeable lenses. 7.1 megapixels&12x optical zoom. expect to pay at least $150, but prices vary since the camera is a year old and they just released a newer version with a few more megapixels and a larger zoom range.

i don't know much about video cameras. lmao. hope i helped. haha. OH, and dSLR's don't take video, afaik.

I would deffinitely say go with a Cannon. I have a Canon SD500, which I've had for about 4 years now, and I have not had one issue with it. It wasn't too pricey either, and you can take as long of a video as big as your memory card is.

don't be fooled by megapixels. research it yourself. there's a really good article about good quality pictures and their relation to megapixels.

http://gizmodo.com/383170/giz-explains-dig...a-image-sensors

that site may also help you with good cameras. :)

& a Nikon or a Canon are my top two choices for really good two in one cameras. pictures + film.

Sony has some nice ones too.

edit if you're looking for a cheap DSLR go for the Nikon D40. on amazon it's 500. point & shoot cameras by nikon and canon are my personal favorites. Canon has a DSLR that is around 450. i'm not sure which one it is, it could be the rebel. but you should definitely check those out if you want fantastic quality. a DSLR with only 6 megapixels triumphs over a point and shoot with 12 megapixels. keep that in mind.

Dunno about video cameras but in terms of digital cameras:

Canon Digital Rebel XTI (price varies, but suggested retail is about $500 or $600, body only) or XSI (Suggested retail for body only is $800). If you're willing to shell out a coupon extra hundred, you can get the lens extension, which allows for higher quality.

Nikon is a really good brand too. Sony is kind of a hit-or-miss in terms of quality, but honestly their pricing is pretty high for what you get. I think their more compact digital cameras will make you sacrifice quality for superficiality, based on what you pay.

You can check out engadget as well, along with gizmodo, as TiffanyFactorial suggested.
