I want my mom to realize I'm growing up. She knows I have a boyfriend and everything and shes like NO! YOU CAN'T KISS! IF YOU KISS I'LL NEVER TRUST YOU EVER AGAIN! And it sort of bothers me.I want to let her know like I'm not three years old anymore. I'm growing up. But I just don't know how. Now she's like you swore you wouldn't kiss him blah blah blah. You said if you did then I would get hit by a car blah blah blah. I know she just cares but, dude, I'm growing up. I'm gonna go to college in a couple years.

You said if you did then I would get hit by a car blah blah blah. I know she just cares but, dude, I'm growing up. I'm gonna go to college in a couple years. So then don't tell her... kiss him. She thinks it's gonna lead to sex just within the kiss. Or tell her that you want to kiss him or you have been kissin him but you haven't slept with him and you don't plan to sleep with anyone. She's old fashion, so you gotta try to understand where she's comin from. Tell her to be mature/serious about it and ask her why exactly is it that you're not allowed to kiss. I thought you were gonna claim to be some lil 12-13 year old... I would have agreed with your mom. But I read that you're a Sophomore and well... durin that time of life, people in general tend to have relationships. |

^I agree with Tama. You should have a serious one on one talk with your mom and explain to her how you feel. Compromise with her. Let her know that you're... 15? Not a baby anymore. I had this trouble with my mom too, and I compromised with her. (Mostly doing the chores around the house, but I don't know if that would personally help you)
Don't, however, tell her that you've already been kissing him. That would lead to trust issues, which might result in your not being able to kiss your boyfriend even further into your life. I don't mean to be a bad influence, buuut, what your mom doesn't know won't hurt her. |

I don't mean to be a bad influence, buuut, what your mom doesn't know won't hurt her. Yeah but at the same time we shouldn't do that. Because imagine her boyfriend becomes some weirdo... next thing you know the girl's missing and the parents have not an ounce of an idea as to where she could be. It's always good to let your parents/elders know your activities and who your associate yourself with. And most of the time if you don't, then obviously you're doin somethin that you shouldn't be doin; no matter how innocent it may seem to you. |

Yeah, that's why I said I didn't wanna be a bad influence, haha. Being honest with your mom will probably even strengthen your relationship with her, and the trust between you two. :] Or so that's how it worked out with me and my mom.

moved to relationships.
/edit OK SINCE THIS ISN'T GETTING ENOUGH ATTENTION Your mother seems to be setting limits like a madwoman. I don't think the problem is necessarily with your mom not realizing that you're a bit older, but rather her disillusionment of how youth culture is nowadays. Granted, we shouldn't be sinking into the stereotypical pit of American teenagers getting STDs all over the place, but do you think she's capable of realizing that there's a gray area? |
