Blackberry, PDA, regular phone or iPhone?

Scratch the last, I can't afford it.

I want something that I can access the internet from. I can't afford an iTouch right now, but something to consider is that at the point I can, I won't need to pay extra (for data plan). Then again, I'm not terribly familiar with how that works. I know it's wifi, but are you only able to connect if you're in a hot spot?

Anyway, suggestions? I don't like frilly pink and blingy phones, by the way, so don't worry about suggesting something prettified.

Also, I'm sure there are a ton of topics regarding this. Just indulge me, ok?

Get out of my thread, spammer. I don't have the patience to deal with you. You spam here again and I'll have no problems warning you. You're lucky I don't just ban this account since you begged us to ban your other one.

I'll respond more when I get more advice.

I told you that I'd warn you if you kept it up and I am one to keep promises. Not only that, but I'm moving your posts to your very own special thread(s) in the spambox.

Oh and post here again with something inane and I'll suspend posting abilities. I think you might need some rest and relaxation outside of cB for a couple of days.

If you don't work for a business in which you need to set times/appointments and add notes to them, then don't worry about PDAs nor any phone that typically has a QWERTY keyboard attached to it. If you do you need to set times/dates and notes, then get PDA/Blackberry.

If you just want to text message, check emails, make phone calls... then get a regular phone. If you plan on taking pictures or prefer to have a picture phone handy just in case somethin happens and you need evidence of it (whatever the matter is) then get a picture phone.

if you want a good durable phone i say go with any sony ericsson. i have a sony ericsson walkman w580i and i love it. i personally don't like/trust blackberry. i've seen/heard that they're not that good. and like ^tamacracker^ said unless you're going to need all that extra stuff a pda brings, it's north worth buying one.

I guess it would depend on what are your preferences in a phone. Like, if you were to get a PDA, would you use the calendar, internet, and all that shabang? or if you're just interested in texting, camera, and other simple functions like that, the phone would be cheaper.

You should look at some Sony Ericssons, they're pretty nice and have lots of features.

Higher-end Nokia phones aren't shabby, either, and their phones are like bricks, so durability won't be a concern there. Purchase some unlocked phone off eBay or other sellers, and all you'd have to do is insert a SIM. However, for the price and for what you want, the BlackBerry Curve wouldn't be a bad idea.

blackberrys are alright. i had the curve, but i switched with my dad and i got an iPhone.
the pantech duo seems nice. it's laggy, though, when you switch from landscape to portrait.
also, that new palm centro looks nice.
oh, and just so you know, with pretty much every pda/phone with a qwerty keyboard [that you purchase from directly from the service provider and not 3rd parties like ebay] requires a data plan.
unless you're on a metro, or something.

as for your wifi question, with a wifi enabled device, you can use the hotspots [some which you have to pay for like starbucks], but once you roam off, you'll no longer have connection to the internet.
