^ Idk, I haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I've read on IMDB, it's more of a Superbad humor, which is nothing like the book at ALL.
Yes, Nick's friends are all gay and then there's the bit with Norah's bff in the beginning, but it's all aimed at getting the two of them together in the first place to go onto this "exploration" of New York, music, etc. The book is pretty much centered around music. I downloaded most of the songs mentioned after reading it and have to thank this book for introducing me to Bella & Sebastian. The thing I loved about the book was because it was so spontaneous, I felt like I was going on an adventure in NYC. Besides Norah being sometimes overbearingly pretentious (it was co-written between Rachel Cohn and David Levithlan[sp]; Cohn wrote Norah's POV and Levithlan wrote Nick's), the book was one of my favorite summer reads in high school. I'm not sure if I want to see the movies in theaters or just wait until there's a copy on the internet, but if you've only seen the movie and haven't read the book, definitely read the book! |

I never read the book, but I do plan to, but I just came home from the movie.
I thought it was pretty cute. Not as predictable as the usual 'teen love' stories...I don't know, but hey I enjoyed this movie. Cute, funny, and hilarious awkward moments. |

I just watched it tonight too!! I really loved it... it was nothing I expected. It's just so different from the stuff that's out there right now - it was so honest and, like you said, hilariously awkward. And disturbing at some parts

The gum was discusting.. Everyone was yelling "No! Don't do it!"
I loved the movie. I am seeing it for a second time tonight. I liked how it was just their one awesome night in NYC. It shows how one moment can change everything. Kinda reminded me of the Breakfast Club because the people would never have been friends in real life, but because of that one awkward moment, they became friends. |

I love Michael Cera and all, but why does he keep getting the same old roles as an awkward adolescent (aka playing himself)? I mean, ever since he was a kid in those Canadian shows... and then Arrested Development, and now movies like Superbad, Juno, and Nick and Norah..........
It'd be nice to see him do something different. Not that I can really imagine it... |

I never got around to reading it so I can't say how, but it's supposed to be a good opportunity for him to break out of the typecasting or whatever. |
