I find it kind of rude, but that's just me. When things are closed prematurely, I often have things I feel like saying (maybe that's why I created a new topic, who knows?! I do, and it is.) but I can't because someone who didn't post that they closed the topic, closed it.

Well yes, if the problem isn't resolved, then the topic shouldn't be closed. But sometimes it can be a mistake, and simply just PM a staff member to re-open it.
Or you can bitch and complain ![]() ^That's why it says not to click it ![]() |

The latter seems to be the most effective way today, except when I would pm mona or rebecca.

Nope, but premature closure irks me to the bone, gets my blood boiling irl, makes me want to fight level 1 people on ssbm so I can DOMINATE.
Are you on yours? I hear it's way more common in females. |

Yes indeed, especially after Mona had to put up w/ my 100s of posts that one time I got mod previewed.

Hahaha. Thanks guys.
I wouldn't have closed the topics, but we all have different ways of handling topics. Perhaps the idea behind closing them was because the question(s) had been answered and it was assumed that the topic was resolved. |

^ Whoa, coulda swore that scrolling through the topic I had already read that
![]() Personally, I wouldn't close the topic unless if it's a specific problem that the poster has and they reply that it's resolved. if there's other posters in that topic with the same problem and it hasn't been resolved for them, it should stay open. Usually, if you just PM a mod they'll open the topic back up. |

^ i posted it up there, just didn't make it so obvious.
![]() speaking of topics being closed, it may be hard work but, i think all topics before 2006 (not 2006 topics, though) should be closed, unless it's still active. just to cut down on the "idiot, why did you bump a 5 year old topic?" 's. :] that was totally off topic. |

The question was answered. Sorry for doing my job. I'm not going to leave it open so you can banter back and forth about an already useless topic to begin with.

Because there are never follow up questions. Useless is your opinion, and clarification is needed from time to time on certain issues, particularly stupid ones.

Contrary to popular belief, we really aren't obligated to explain all our decisions with you guys. Sure you can ask, and we might answer, but I'm just saying. it's not like we just make rules up as we go along just to f**k with peoples heads. we have the forum's best interests in mind.
And honestly, you said "fair enough" or something to that effect. That pretty much signifies that the question has been answered and the issue resolved. That, imo, isn't even an assumption, it's a deduction. I don't even really need your permission to close topics either. |
