Congratulations you are...GAY! Okay...Thanks? Bitch shut the f**k upp. You sound dumb as hell. Im sorry to speak in this form of matter,But once again as I stated before. LMAO!
I'm a bitch for voicing my opinion? Awfully hostile for someone who is wanting to support the poster. If you read beyond the first paragraph you'd see that I wasn't bashing the op at all. I myself am bisexual and if I didn't want anyone to know that I wouldn't have just typed it and I won't press add reply. When you're posting in a forum it is kinda expected to have responses. So wtf do I need to mind my own business if it is a forum? Where did I ever get into his business? I could see being invasive if I asked him "How do you know if you're gay, have you sucked penis?" And wtf does it matter if Jessibabe only has 40 posts. A high post count doesn't make you any better, similar to how your sexual preference doesn't make a difference neither. ALSO if you're so sorry for speaking in that matter why didn't you just delete it and type something else. You had the option of altering what you said before you did, so don't act like you're some lady and you're so eloquent when you're clearly not. |

Not judging whether or not this original post is a direct form of a pride, I agree that I don't understand gay pride. What exactly are homosexuals showing pride of? What is the achievement? Congratulations you are...GAY! Okay...Thanks? I suppose that gay pride may occur to battle the possible shame of it, but I don't think it serves a great purpose. In my city there is a big gay parade and it's some sort of major deal. I go to the Community Festival in the park that is on the street where the parade takes place. It's a big hippie fest with breasts hanging out and alcohol and drugs are involved. It's a good time and the parade is carried out in a similar vibe. So yeah it's fun and all, but I don't think it does much good to show guys in leather thongs bumping and grinding on a float. That isn't what the entire parade is about, it's just the point that supports my reasoning of how this type of festivity is somewhat detrimental to the goals of the coordinators. It is beneficial to have people sharing info about homosexuality to people who are interested, but I think that most of it is just ridiculous. Why not have a parade (or in this case a club or whatever) that celebrates sexuality in general(hence Gay Straight Alliances, etc). Some of the floats in the parade support all sexualities, but it isn't the focus of the event. What is the difference between a gay parade/gay pride month and say... Black History Month(i do realize that its historic meaning vs the pride, but still)? I don't intend to demean the significance of Black History Month, but I'm sure some would argue against it with the same type of logic. I think that BHM is a decently deserved accolade and that maybe firm supporters of homosexuality feel that that are fighting aggression equivalent to what blacks faced in the past? So here's my thinking to your post. I know that A LOT of gay people flaunt their gayness. I know that most gay people show it off like it's sometihng that they have and no one else does. But for me, it's different. Yeah, okay, I'm gay. SURE! I would love to show that I'm proud, but NEVER once will I be "grinding" with another guy on a float at a parade. Infact, I am not all into parades, but I do believe in showing that I am proud of being gay. A lot of people in the society hate gay people because they only have an image of a guy acting like a girl. What most people don't realize is that there ARE manly gay people. And WE (meaning manly) are the one's who suffer for the actions of the flaunting gay people. You don't choose to be gay. Like somone said (I don't know how). It starts out as a phase and it either turns into JUST a phase or into something true and real. And I don't mean to pull the gay community apart, but there ARE many types of gays. Just like there are straight men who act girly and there's girls who are tomboys... we are them, just interested in the same sex. To answer some of your questions, us homosexuals are showing pride of our gayness... like I said, we are proud to be gay and we could give a rat's ass about what people have to say. Eventually the actions of gays in the community will make a point saying that we are no different than you. I know this sounds a little rediculous, but us gay people are fighting for rights; one being the right to marry freely in ALL states. One day... ONE DAY.... and I say that hopingly that I will be able to marry that one man that I fall in love with. |

I understand that there are different types of people who are gay. I don't doubt it for a second. I surely didn't mean to generalize homosexuals as people in parades, rather I was attempting to analyze the subject in a thought provoking manner.
Again, yes you are showing pride of your "gayness" but for what? It's not an award. One shouldn't be ashamed of his or her sexuality, but i don't think it should be thought of as a trophy. About giving a rat's ass, are you sure about that? If you didn't care you wouldn't spend time promoting it. I'm all for diversity among sexuality! However, I don't feel that one sexuality should be bragged about. It just seems a bit cocky when people are like "I'm gay and i don't care what you think!" It may be out of context, but give that statement some serious consideration, does being gay give you the right to not care about what someone thinks? No, being a human does. |

Totally agree, but gay people have to tolerate things more making it easier for them to ignore rude comments... we could care less of about people have to say. Now if people are debating, that's different. It's not a trophy, you're right, but people DO feel the need to express who the are. We are showing how we are proud of who we are. Straight people, come on and join! Our parades aren't just for gays... |

As for the parades not being for gays only, that's what I mean. Like I think sexuality should just be celebrated in general. It's good for it to be celebrated/talked about because then there isn't any undiscussed tension, helping put people at ease when it comes to the different sexual preferences. An aversion to difference is bolstered by fear.

Straight people, come on and join! Our parades aren't just for gays... This made me laugh. I don't think you'll have many joining you, actually. Straight people have a really hard time discussing their sexuality in-depth. Like, how many girls are comfortable talking about masturbation today? None. |

Yeah, but idc if straight people joined the parade or even HAD thier own parade... yay for them.. (that was serious)! |

Well, tell me one thing, would people jump on gays if they weren't sporting rainbow-themed attire or parading around talking about how "gay and proud" they are? Exactly. "Coming out" would be no big deal if they also didn't dedicate threads/clubs/parties revolving around them, telling everyone how different they are. What do they expect? That all narrow-minded, conservative people will appreciate them for standing up for their sexual orientation? No, and this is the consequence of them being obnoxiously proud and upright about it. That's not true. I went to High School with a lot of gay guys and I was friends with most. They weren't obnoxiously proud but they didn't hide their sexuality, openly dating other men. A lot of them were teased and beat up, while one of them was hospitalized because he was beat so badly. In the past year 1 gay guy I know killed himself while another made an unsuccessful attempt. Even the most conservative gays are discriminated against if people know their sexual preference. |

^ Before you go on, you said earlier in the thread that the US Congress banned gay marriage. Just so you know, like, something about your own individual rights, that's not true at all. The US Congress has nothing to do with whether or not a gay couple can get married. That issue is entirely up the individual states, and some have already legalized it. :)

Legalize gay marriage. We're not getting one are we? When it comes to adopting that should be a different story for now.

No... you can go ANY state and get married... unless you are the same sex.... |
