i'm getting my boyfriend a cell phone for christmas (though i'll probably be getting it to him awhile after just because i really want to make sure it's what he'd want). he's had his for a little more than a year and it is hellish old and dysfunctional to the max... and the battery and cover and everything just pop right off when you drop it.
he just uses his phone mainly for talking, so a long talk time would be nice. and of course, it has to be at least somewhat aesthetically pleasing. he likes flip phones or swivel ones more than others. his carrier is t-mobile. any suggestions? post pictures if you'd like :) it doesn't need to be a smartphone or anything flashy. basic and classic is good at the moment, i'm thinking ![]() Samsung SGH-E730 and let's try and keep costs to $450 or less! tytyty the brother and my boyfriend are going to make me broke, haha.. i'm limiting myself to $600 for both of them put together, and i'm buying my older brother at least two pairs of jeans and either a sweater or shoes. i dunno yet! |

If he just uses phones for talking and not much else, then you should definitely consider battery life. Check up on all of your options and read some reviews on it, and get the one with the best battery life.
As far as I can tell you, though, do not get the following phones, because they are complete shit one way or another. ![]() ![]()

God, they're all wretched. The first one has a battery life that lasts no more than 6 hours, and the other two are very poor quality. I wish I had actual recommendations for you, but I haven't had good experiences with T-Mobile phones. My boyfriend has a BlackBerry that he's rather happy with, but I only text and rarely call people, so I saw no need to get one for myself.

Tell him to switch to cingular
Better phones with cingular.. I personally think. My phone has the battery life of up to 8 hours..talking.. and then around 6 if I use it for games and internet. It has wi-fi and bluetooth and it has a sliding keyboard..and it only cost me 60 bucks.. I've dropped it multiple times and nothing has broken on it. The only downfall is that its has a microsoft operating system and it crashes..but you can always make a back up with a program called activesync with your computer. ![]() Also they carry the IPhone..I wouldn't say its a good phone but apparently others think it is. (I would wait for the newer version coming out soon) ![]() Nokia N95 I believe its called, you can always get with cingular..of course after tax and a US version its around 700$ but it is the best phone out. It has GPS, Wi-fi, great camera, etc etc.. I wouldn't know that much about it but my dad just got one for christmas from his parents and won't shut up about it XD But its the best phone that is currently out right now. ![]() Anyway..if switching plans can't happen.. I would suggest a phone by Nokia..any phone. Some of their phones don't look the best but they make damn good phones. My dad usually keeps his for 4-5 years. He even swam with his last nokia in a pool and even after he took out the battery for a day or so and it was working normally. |

dang holly, how did you get that for only $60? with a plan i'm guessing? madnesss!
i have cingular too, haha.. it's supposed to be a surprise so i don't know about changing service providers :P cingular is so expensive compared to t-mobile and most of my t-mobile friends think it's fine :( grr contracts! i really don't think locked phones are a big deal .. my brother knows this person who'll unlock your phone for $15, but it just seems like too much trouble. i'm thinking about the motorola pebl u6 too. |
