I'm so passionate about cycling! I'm more into mountain biking though. I ride the local trails and I do a little freeriding here and there. I don't road cycle a lot but I do sometimes and it's pretty fun. But roadies and MTBr's don't really mix, so I tend to stay on the MTBr's side. shifty.gif

i would really like to get into it but the whole heat thing...yeah, not happening. whistling.gif
i like going to mountain bike races...so many idiots wipe out. i know i shouldn't laugh but sometimes it's hilarious, there will be people out there who think going up a few hills a day is mountain biking. it's just amusing. i'm mostly into road cycling, but that's just what my dad and brother do so...if they did mountain biking more often i'd probably be more drawn to that.
i really do look up to people who can cycle, though-no matter if it's freeride, mountain, or road. a lot of people just don't understand how harsh it can be, it takes a lot more energy and will than running up and down a football field or basketball court, or even around a track. don't know if you hear about it, but the pro's did a tour here in missouri a while back. my brother is the only person in our school who rides. a lot of people kept looking down on us and saying it's just a stupid hobby and that it can't be classified as a sport. we got PO'd and actually worked together for once and wrote a huge report on cycling which the majority of our teachers let us read for our classes. we had a friend cut some clips and put together a nice little DVD for us to show, too. it was pretty sweet, showed them how tough it is. the entire school got interested though, and a lot of the teachers ended up showing parts of the tour in class. laugh.gif

uh...sorry for the novel. =/
and isn't this supposed to be a present topic? so, to keep on track...

i got 20 more dollars from my dad. XD.gif

It's alright. It annoys me when people have that very attitude towards it. They just don't understand the dimensions of the sport itself. I mean if it were the other way, us ridiculing their sport, they'd feel the same way. I think cycling is the best sport out there because other than most sports, which require you to stay within a certain perimiter, whether it be a court, a field, or a rink, they still have to stay within that area.

When it comes to cycling, you have the opportunity to travel and see the sights, and to participate in cross country road races such as the Tour de France where the route is so picturesque and the amount of endurance required is so great. Then there's mountain bike races which are equally picturesque, though very unpredictable as there are variables which change in every race. Cycling is a sport. thumbsup.gif

Drifting back to the topic, I bought myself a new pair of shoes with the Christmas money I got. _smile.gif

Nah, I'm just pretty bored. I have to "work" today (which means debugging an Eclipse issue, mostly).
