This is a short paragraph that my brother wrote. Thought it would be interesting to share.
QUOTE Racism, it’s an ugly word. It has ugly connotations. No one is immune, except the French, they have no feelings. I’ve always said I don’t hate people because of the color of their skin I instead hate everyone equally. Racism is an antiquated remnant of the development of human civilization. At one point UGGH turned to THUGG and told him to watch out for bald face people for they will cut off their heads and steal their women but the peoples who have small eyes are friendly and good at math. Categorizing other tribes and races helped people identify friend or foe or led to better understanding of the others culture just by a facial feature or skin tone. When you didn’t run into other kinds of people in everyday life and there was no multiculturalism this was a great tool. Its now in our human nature to see similarities and differences in our surroundings and this includes people. If this weren’t part of our nature we would have to make judgments about every single person individually. This would take forever…how about I just throw them in this pre-conceptualized category and go get my Starbucks coffee and then get to work. What got me started thinking about this again is this Don Imus crap. He’s just another shock jock screaming, look at me, look at me, and now we are. Why does freedom of speech go out the window when it offends people or many people? If you don’t like it turn the damn channel or go kick his ass. Enjoy. |
