I went to my tracker stats and saw someone whose IP was already identified and they went to my page. I clicked on the link and their myspace is a private profile. And they never been on my friend's list.
Now my profile is on private as well. When someone goes to it when they aren't on my friend's list does their IP still get tracked? |

i think i understand so that means my profile is on private and anyone who types in the url to my profile whether they are my friend or not ... it will still count as a hit and their ip will be logged?
cause i've gotten hits and no ips have showed up so i figured it was because those hits weren't from friends |

you would have to take your profile off of private.
as far as i understand, the tracker tracks how many hits your page gets by how many hits the cb tracker graphic makes. there would be no other way for cb to track the hits if something that resides on the cb server wasnt direct linked onto your page. if no one can see that image, then no one would be tracked. get it? |

I do get it. I just don't understand how someone who has a private profile who isn't on my friend list checks out my profile and her IP still shows up, even when my profile is private too.

Whenever anyone visits a website, that website identifies the visitor's Internet connection by a code known as an IP address.
Even if their profile is private, they're still visiting your rwebsite, which is why it gets tracked. Doesn't matter if they can't see all of it. |

ok, I was just under the impression if my myspace profile is private the only tracks i would get are just from the people on my friends list.
