Some girl has contacted me saying she saw my layouts here on cb and really loved them. She ask me to make her a couple standard myspace layouts for a price. She claimed she bought layouts in the past very cheap around $20 for 15 layouts. She also wants resell rights. I offer to make her 25 layouts for $40.

I never use paypal before and never sold anything to people online before. I'm afraid she would resell my layouts for a higher price than she got them for.

I don't know anything about this so before I get to deep in this, I want to ask a couple questions.

I'm I charging the right price? Is it a good idea to give her resell rights? How much would you charge for 25 standard myspace layouts? Is I'm selling myself short? Do anyone know about how paypal work?

Any advice?

I don't know if this is in the right place so feel free to move.

Uh...I'm sorry, but the grammar in your post is... pinch.gif

Getting to the point, I think this girl might be making it up that she bought 20 layouts for $15. Most web designers wouldn't charge less than $1 for a layout. So yes, I think you're asking for too little money here.

Standard as in what? Keeping the original colors and then just changin the background? Heck I never charge people so I wouldn't know but I'm just wondering.

I wouldn't even do it considering she wants to resell it.

Paypal you sign up and connect your bank account to it. Give people the email you used on the paypal they can send you money you can transfer it then to your bank account.

25 different layouts. I'm just making standard myspace layouts, and all with a different backgrounds and colors.

IMO, i wouldn't do it. i mean, do you know this girl? and the fact that she wants rights to redistribute just gives me a weird feeling-that should be an auto no right there.

You charge what you want. Either way you'll never know if she sells your layouts for more or else than you did. Thats all I think others and I are trying to say.

well ok, I might not do it then. I need the money, but I really don't have the time, besides I am the biggest procrastinator. Thanks everyone for the advice, and sorry about the grammar. I don't pay attention.

Seriously I need money too but if you don't have the time don't force yourself to do it for that purpose. Maybe ask for her contact info and ask if she'll be willing to pay when your schedule lightens up. If she can't then you don't need to do business with her anyway. Putting that fact and all the others together.

25 layouts for $40 .. I think that's a lot of work. Unless you're a fastass worker and can make really professional layouts.

you should charge wayyy more than just $40. I also agree that its too much work. If you're going to charge for 25 layouts, you should charge more.

100 dollars for 25 layouts is still grossly cheap.

i charge 100 an hour, and for flat prices at LEAST 300 per myspace layout.

I think you are not charing her enough.

She is probably a person who runs a myspace layout site.
Or someone who is planning to do that.

1. She will earn money for the adds on her page.
2. She will earn click backs to her page from her little
tags on the layouts (the link).

So you should charge her more, or just not do it.
You should start your own layout site (did you ask
her why she needed 25 lyts?)

I'm the "Girl" That wanted to buy your Layouts. You gave me the price. I didn't ask you for the Price. You might want to visit Myspacepros.com and get the real value of selling myspace layouts and graphics. I make and sell my own. It was just an offer but Thanks anyways. Some of you might want to make money There as well. :) I might just buy your Layouts. lol. Website Owners go there to buy Myspace Content. You all can have your opinions, I don't mind either. I don't rip anyone off it's not my style. I wouldn't want it to happen to me.
Just wanted to clear things up.

Visit Myspacepros.com

^ Yeah I know I made the price(I stated that already). But I wasn't sure I was giving the right price. So I needed a little advice on how I should go about this from other designers. I realize that was a lot of work. They all think I was charging too little.

Yeah I'll check that site out.

What I Ment about RESELL RIGHTS, was if i was to sell my Website with all the content in it. I would Have Your permission to let the buyer have those Layouts aswell. I'm sorry Things got out of hand and misunderstood.
Here is and example of a Layout I made (out 0f 10) and sold 10 for $10.00. EXAMPLE

If you ever plan to make and sell Layouts on MSP let me know so i could buy some.

I'm sorry but who would buy 1 Myspace layout for 300.00? Never heard of that. If that was the case I'd be rich.
