What was you're bad experiences with job interviews or how was you're first time?

Apparently, I have a "group" interview tomorrow (It's my first interview, and I really need a JOB!), and I have a feeling it's going bad. The fact that it's a group interview, it's more pressure due to the people around you trying to compete for the position. One of my friends told me sometimes in group interviews, they usually make you sing a song or dance or tell a funny joke, and I have a feeling that's going to go bad if it happens. LOL. I have no idea what kind of questions that I'm going to expect other than introducing my self. Anyone know any good advices what to say in an interview and such (especially in group interviews)?

One of my friends had a group interview once, they didn't make him do anything weird, but he said there was this one guy who basically had the same answers he did. So that kind of sucked, especially since the other guy always answered before him.
There were only 3 people in his 'group' interview though.

But yeah, never had an interview, that will be happening soon though.

if they have "scoring" or "comment" sheets...chances are they're going to have a few people hiding them and a few people showing them so it's REALLY obvious.
don't fall into that trap-if you notice a sheet, glance at it once, then ignore it...this shows you're smart enough to know better. it's all a strategy thing.

Yeah. I don't want to repeat other people's answers since it will be too typical or general. It's hard to think fast even if you are already prepared for lots of questions that they might ask. =X Gah. I hope I do well and my friend also has the interview with me too, so I won't be alone. lol.

i had a group interview and they kept quizzing me on code. i blanked on get element by ID for like 2 minutes (eventually i got it), cuz one of my interviewers was so f**king hot. i got the job, but later found out the guy had a long term girlfriend. not to mention i have a boyfriend.

The way my managers recruit newbies has changed since I was offered my job - when I went for my interview it was one to one (which I think works a lot better), but now it does tend to be group. I wouldn't have done so well in group back then because of how shy I used to be! But then, I'm not anymore and even my stammer's gone so I'm a firm believer in seeing potential in people in one to one interviews.

When I got my first job at sixteen (working at my local pub) the interview was very informal, all it was was a five minute chat with the landlord and that was that. Since then I've had lots of other jobs and all interviews have been fairly different, with a range of tasks and interview set-ups. It's always best to know what to expect from the interview, and it sounds like you've been given some information about the format and so on, which is a good start!

For the job I currently have, I was asked at the end of the panel interview to speak for a minute about a topic of interest to me, but completely unrelated to the job I was going for. It threw me for a few seconds, but I got into it and enjoyed myself, so perhaps try to think about what hobbies or topics you could speak about in advance, in case you ever get a question like that!

The most unpleasant interview questions I've had tend to be very direct or overly negative ones. I was asked at the interview for my previous job why I had only stayed in the job before that for three months, and "what makes you think you'll want to stay here any longer?". In the end I got through by being straightforward and honest, making his negative question positive, and trying to act completely unfazed by the question!

Prepare well for the interview by imagining questions you might be asked, and don't forget to think of questions to ask them (even if you don't really care about the answer, it makes you look like you've given plenty of thought!). Above all, smile, be friendly and polite, and try to enjoy the experience, strange as that may sound! The interviewer is as likely to be nervous like you are, remembering that may put you at ease!

I think a good thing to bear in mind is that if you get invited through to the interview stage, the employer obviously likes you (well, on paper at least), so you should try to feel confident and as good as the next candidate. They already know about your qualifications and experience and obviously think you'd be suitable for the job in that respect, so half of the work is already done. The interview is basically there to see whether you're a nice person and the sort of person the interviewers would want to work with! This is important to remember at a group interview, because even if other candidates seem super-prepared with loads of slick answers, it can sometimes come across a bit arrogant. There's a happy medium to be met there between being "sporting" to the other candidates and letting them have a chance too, and showing off your own strengths!

During the summer, I was supposed to go for a group interview but I chickened out. I figured I wouldn't get it anyway. I regret it though. It seems fun working for a television company. Aaargh!

My experiences with interviews have been pretty good. They are pretty relaxed about it so don't stress out... just be yourself

Build-A-Bear. I wanted to kill everyone in the group by the time I left the third interview.

I seriously felt like I was the only person there with a brain. I think they didn't like my attitude. It's okay, I wasn't there long, anyway.

My first interview was with Gamestop and the guy I had it with was completely laid back and he cussed a ton. He pretty much already knew I could do the job so we sat there for 15 minutes talking about school and what degree we were going for and stuff. Easy as pie.

My first interview ever was soo easygoing. It was for Tim Horton's and it went so smoothly. Went by quickly and at the end she was like, "Okay, so can you make it to orientation then?" Got the job on the spot!

Strange enough, I never had a bad interview, they all went well, and I got hired for all jobs I was interviewed in.

That is going to bug me all night, haha.

I was only interviewed for a job once, and that was for Wawa, haha. The guy like fell in love with me. I forget what he told me but it was something along the lines of my interview being one of the best he's had in a long time and I was very detailed with my answers or something. I ended up not even taking the job because his other manager was a bitch [she used to be my brother's manager] and she forgot to call me to tell me when to start, so I got a better job elsewhere.
