i've been looking into Wacom for my birthday (in may), aiming towards the Cintiq 12WX.
so, few questions, mostly dumb things.

can you use it with any version of Photoshop? specifically CS2.
will it effect the response time of my computer for any reason?
how much space does the driver use on your computer?
how much space does the included software, individually, use if you install it?
stupidest for last...
do you have to pay to activate the bundled software?

any other random bits of information would be great.
website for the Cintiq 12WX- http://www.wacom.com/cintiq/12WX.cfm

OR. if you could recommend any other brand with LCD displays (not monitors) that's reliable, that would be lovely. <3

Hey ! No double posting. Lol but anyway.. I have a Wacom and I'm pretty sure you can use tablets with any program, any computer..

There's nothing that special about it-- it's just like a mouse shaped as a pen. So you can use it without even having any programs running.
The installation doesn't take up that much space at all.
And no, I'm pretty sure you don't have to pay to activate it, because a tablet already costs so much.. that would be such a ripoff if you had to pay to activate it as well.

Holy crap it's 1000 bucks. Jeebus.

Mine (I didn't get anything near 1000, mine was a little over 100.00 haha) came with Photoshop Elements, but not the full blown Photoshop I use (which I acquired by means I shall not disclose online). XD

The pen works great with Photoshop, by the way. Not that I've done jack shit with it in over a year. hehe

it really helps with retouching stuff. cause you cant control the mouse like you use a pen. so it comes really in handy.

my wacom tablet was a gift and it was pretty good until i got a bigger screen. so that means i had to keep scrolling my pen until i got to the other side.

just remember the bigger the screen, the bigger wacom tablet you need.

there is no lag when i used mine, and the installation is just plug and play, there is no installation needed unless you install the bundle of programs that come with it.

i think its a great tool. i need to buy a new one though cause my old one is too small for my mac.

yeah, the website says there's driver software. sooo...yeah. laugh.gif
OH ONE MORE QUESTION.
do the tablets only react to the pen, or will it be effected too if you rest your hand on it while working?

^ It's just the pen. The tablet will be able to "sense" the pen if the tip is within a certain distance from it (the ones we have at school, it's around half a cm). You can move the cursor around as you hover over the tablet.

Depends on what you get. Mine connects with my iMac through Bluetooth so I didn't have to install anything.
