^Yeah some of the stuff on Wii is just, meh, but a lot of it is good for party/social atmosphere. Guitar Hero 3 is on Wii as well, which was a deciding factor. GH3 and SSBB = reason I got the Wii. That and the price rofl.

Out of all honesty once you get Super Smash Brothers you'll be content for the rest of that systems lifespan. This game never gets old as long as you have someone to play it with.

Its like me going out and paying over 200 dollars for one game, but I'm definitely going to get my money's worth.

I'm pretty sure their are characters that will be in the game upon release we don't even know about yet. I'm still praying that Shiek comes back.

If Shiek doesn't come back, I'll be so sad. Shiek's my main character haha. I'm thinking about learning to use Falco well, though.

Yahhhh but lets face it, game and watch sucked. Mewto was a combo of samus/zelda. Pichu was a self destructive pikachu. Roy and Marth are easily replaced.

Mewtwo and Pichu are the lowest tier characters, by far.
Marth was top tier last year, and, at the least, he's still high upper tier - the guy is not replaceable. Roy, on the other hand, sucks. With Marth, there is no reason to even touch Roy unless you're an a-hole. Yeah, I never got into Game and Watch (which is funny, it's like the only character I don't play as from time to time).

This game is the only reason Im going to get a Wii.

Same here. Hoping to go pro this time around, but I'm not really that concerned - I'll probably fall behind rather quickly cause I have a life aside from Smash - unlike some people. But, at the very least, I want to be able to meaningfully compete in professional circuits.

Falco just raised to top tier this year - he's an a-hole. Definitely a popular choice and a viable character. If not only for his SHFFL, he's a monster. And, quite an annoyance. One of my better characters.

So, who is getting this when it comes out February 10th?
And, who is planning to spend a lot of time on the Wi-fi Connection?

My little brother already pre-ordered it, so it's supposed to come in February 10th.

I might not play it as much, though I'll probably be hooked on it too for the first couple of days, but I can tell my little bro's hyped up about it. Everyday he asks me if I want to play Melee with him, I guess to practice for Brawl.

Well Pichu is actually better than Pikachu if you know how to use him. You just gotta utilize his strengths . My friend is an expert with Pichu, he takes advantage of his speed and doesn't use certain moves like thunder. Basically if you use his good moves and stay away from his bad ones its pretty hard to keep up with him.

Roy and Marth are a good match. Marth has the speed but Roy has power (even though he can't really control it). Fox and Falco are awesome, but on big stages I think. Ness is good also, when you have full knowledge of his ablilties but my favorite has to be Link. He has a full arsenal of goodies and has the advantage from close and far range.

I couldn't really care less about Sonic. If he's a good character, we'll see; otherwise, I have no immediate opinions on his appearance in Brawl. As goes third party, I was a lot more excited about Solid Snake.

Bad idea - which sort of saddens me. However, this isn't Melee - this is a brand new game. Much like the physics of Melee differed greatly in comparison to the style and play of the first 64 installment, Brawl is going to be a completely different experience. Of course, the basic concepts will remain intact, however, the gameplay should see a dramatic shift - at least for the more technical players.

Practicing Melee will improve your abilities on the Gamecube, but, unfortunately, it won't perfectly translate onto the Wii - if anything, all that getting use to Melee will probably just confuse and frustrate you come February 10th.

QUOTE(YoungKCeezy @ Dec 19 2007, 10:04 PM) *

Not really. Pichu is in the lowest tier. Pikachu isn't. Essentially, Pikachu just has greater combobility, priority, and hit-box.

QUOTE(mistalazyboi @ Dec 19 2007, 10:23 PM) *
Roy and Marth are a good match.

Not really - given equal opponents, using advanced techniques, Marth will win dramatically in all scenarios. Marth is top tier - Roy isn't.

I don't think I'll be purchasing this game, and if I do its going to be to spend a lot of time on the wi fi

I haven't really been that interested with the mario games for the Wii so far. But maybe it will change when it gets closer to the date for it

Mario games? Mario characters comprise only a fraction of this game - which, really, does not reflect the Mario franchise all too much, if at all. Shit, I mean, haven't you ever played Smash Bros.?

QUOTE(Acid Bath Slayer @ May 16 2006, 01:34 PM) *
Ness isn't exactly weakened so much as he is replaced in the tier list. Adjusting for the brand new set of physics, Ness is pretty much just as great, if not greater, than he was. May take a bit more time to become familiar and comfortable with, but he is definately a viable character (despite his unpopular status in tournament play). His fair (f-air; forward air) alone is worth strong notice.

You also have to realize that Ness might not even be in this game. There has been no promise that all of the previous fighters will return, further, Ness has not yet been announced as a returning combatant. It's sad to even consider, but, we don't even know if all the old characters from Melee will be in Brawl.

No, Ness is a lot worse. He's pretty slow but doesn't have the weight to counter that, I find myself having to jump like a motherf**ker in order to use his better moves which leaves me open to the short hopping captain falcons and such, his moves lack the range and power they once had, his throw, yoyo and PK thunder have all been pussified and his pk flash is useful in only very few circumstances. Nothing works to his advantage in melee. I don't have a gamecube or the game so I haven't been able to remaster the new PK thunder (let alone this wavedash shorthop nonsense) and while I can hold my own at the parties I play it at, I'm no match for good players who use fast characters.

Always have to jump - if you aren't jumping or if you're unhappy about jumping (with any character) you're playing a poor game. In the case of Ness, you should be spamming f-airs and b-airs (with the occasional n-air and u-air) - there really shouldn't be much else that you're worrying about (this makes Yoyo and PK Thunder talk kind of irrelevant). I mean, Ness' strong point was never exactly power anyways. And, throwing, in general, has been completely remapped and refigured - it just isn't the same for anyone. We're talking about different games here and looks are often very deceiving. I mean, Ness doesn't have to be fast in order for you to play him fast - learn the advanced techniques and master his move-set and Ness is just as formidable as ever.

Meh, I still think he's a lot weaker. But the fact that no one takes me seriously because I choose Ness (which sometimes works to my advantage) speaks loads about his new reputation.

And they better include him. f**k them if they give the earthbound fanbase the shaft yet again.

Maybe the Lucas guy replacing Ness with will be better or maybe not.

I always hate how certain characters moves change from game to game. For instance there was a kick Captain Falcon used to do by pressing forward and A that was very powerful. But in melee it was replaced by some slow awkward looking kick. And I agree, Ness was downgraded tremendously, especially his throw and PK thunder.

Finally if Shiek isn't on this game then there is no point in me getting this game. _dry.gif

@NoSex - I can put up a pretty good fight with low level tier characters. sad.gif

I dunno why they'd include Lucas. They never released Mother 3 over here. Only a handful of people knew who Ness was before Smash Bros anyway, why replace Ness with a character that no one in America knows about? Unless it means they're trying to get people familiar with him for an official stateside release (I can dream).... Come on, they did it with Fire Emblem, they should give the Mother franchise a shot as well.

Zelda has been announced and confirmed, but... Shiek, not so much. I'm guessing Zelda will still hold the duel nature she did in Melee and your wish will be granted, but, who knows. In either case, I'm still very excited for Brawl (Peach is in, I'm alright for the most part).

Well, this is a Japanese game. I'm sure they are concerned about the American market, but they are also trying to please and appeal to their homeland. But, Earthbound (Mother) may very well see a new life here in the states - it isn't inconceivable. As you pointed out, Fire Emblem launched from Marth and Roy's appearance in Melee. Really, and sort of unfortunately, it seems like Nintendo is going to be using Brawl to promote new franchises and or rekindle the old.

I am sick of the push backs but it sounds like it will be worth it. I'm curious how it will work out with wii controls... if it fails you can still use gamecube controls.
