The wifi is going to be buggy at first. Things like that are always bugged when they first come out. They'll work out the kinks and hopefully set up some fast ass dedicated servers so people don't have to worry about lag. yea i figured that they didnt allow people to go on cause this was an hour after i got it, so maybe they didnt activate online play until people on the west side got it. but if nintendo had such a great online setup like xbox, then it would be a great system. i am pretty upset with nintendos online. |

^ Yeah, one of my friends had that problem too.
Hope they get the wi-fi thing worked out soon. Online, and SSBB should be top. |

Question, which controllers do you like better for this game~?
I'm still debating if I want to get a gamecube or the classic controller. Because, to play at my boyfriends house, I'll have to carry one or the other... everyday, I fail. |

is this going to be hard to buy if I didn't reserve it? From what I've heard, finding the game isn't much of a problem. Not like finding Wiis at least.I like using the Gamecube controllers just 'cause that's what I'm used to, and what I already had. I wasn't about to go out and spend fresh cash on Classics. |

Right so I just picked up my copy. Never in my life have I felt so socially elite. I think someone called me an a-hole cause I was having a lengthy discussion with a friend on George Lucas. I said the f**ker couldn't write worth shit, loudly. I had totally forgotten where I was. Those poor souls might have had the right mind to jump me or rub their B.O. on me, forcefully. I don't know, it was humorous. I believe friend codes will be in order soon... Or whatever the heck you use for the wi-fi on the Wii. Though I don't think I'd be far off if I said Nate would own us all. 1. Friends codes, soon. Definitely. Oh, and that's both Wii codes and Brawl codes (yeah, there are two separate codes you need if you intend to play each other - yes, Nintendo really needs to cut the friend code bullshit). 2. Wi-fi, so far, is alright. Expectingly, it's really buggy and slow right now; the traffic is stupidly high and their servers obviously weren't ready for this release. I played about ten or so matches and barely half were bearable. I was dropped from two and two others were so bad I couldn't even pretend I was playing. Lag out the ass. 3. Just to say a few words about the choices of wi-fi on Brawl: The features f**king suck (only two minute brawls, no stock, no coins, items always? no 1v1, 1v2, etc.). Dunk the friend codes, it's bullshit. Give me a chat room. Give me non-anonymity (I want people to know I'm better than them). For f**ks sake, you god damned morons, give us a ranking board! Sukurai, himself, said that the exclusion of a ranking board was intentional in order to protect people's feelings. What the f**k?! 4. f**k. 5. I would own you all if this was Melee online. However, I think the gap between the competitive player and the casual player has dramatically shrunken. This game simply does not have the depth of Melee, and, even if it did, I'm not so sure how well that speed could translate online (considering this sort of service). But, seriously, I don't think anyone is going to be, for sure, owning anyone. Question, which controllers do you like better for this game~? You would have to be dull not to play with a cubetroller (can I call it that?). But, seriously, the maximum control and comfortability (especially given that this game was designed around the gamecube controller scheme), you should be playing with the gamecube controller. Pick up a used pair or two (if you're like me, you already have a million). MY FIRST IMPRESSION (SIMPLIFIED): Melee > Brawl Brawl is simply a devolved, dumbed-down, addition to the series. The amount of depth, competitive threshold, and mastery within Brawl, after having played now for nearly two days straight, is obviously less than Melee. Brawl is a game designed for the casual gamers and, instead of having forgotten of the professional Melee enthusiasts, programmed against high level play. It seems that Sukurai, both from his completed product and from his own interviews, intended for the game to create a sort of "level playing field." He wanted to make a game that "everyone" could "enjoy." I supposed that means destroying any serious level of competitive threshold (we're comparing chess to checkers here, seriously). By an offensive decaying of playing options (the removal of l-canceling, the slowness, the decreased metagame, and the near non-existent status of comboing due to ridiculous DIing and hit recovery) and a market pleasing "pick up and play and never feel like a loser" attitude (defensive play exaggerated, offensive play deflated, the ledge is a magnet, online play is anonymous, gravity is normalized) the tournament future of Brawl will seriously suffer. Though a competitive community is likely to rival that of Melee's, it will all be undeserved as the fandom and hype is much out of proportion in respects to the quality of the gameplay. Now, a bit out of the negativity. I was stupidly gleeful playing my first online match (and I kicked those nubs' asses), and the game is actually a shit load of fun. My critique is merely from a competitive stand-point. Aside from that, it's a beautiful, immensely fun romp. But, the rock-paper-scissor depth isn't going to keep me coming back after the years go by... hopefully, some sick and sorry Melee loyalists with crack this code and find something that will split the earth open between the serious players and the casual gamers. Then, we can start building bridges... but, right now, if we made a relatively long cup phone (you know, with a string?) we could probably hear one another. Ok, to be a little less obscure: this game seriously needs some advanced techs. I'm playing it, loving it, but, I'm still really really disappointed. P.S. I have all the characters and I'm real close to having all the stages. SSE can suck my ass. |

Why's it gotta be a white Kirby, huh?
I really hope they improve on the "Smash Service," especially with Brawl, which could potentially be their best opportunity to open their doors wide open to the world of online gaming. Spectator mode is garbage. Apparently it's not even live; it's replay data? Forget that. I agree about the friend codes (and pretty much everything else about wi-fi), but for a free service, I guess you can't really expect much. I'd probably be one to pay for quality service, instead, though. Nintendo's so family oriented and kid-friendly, which I commend them for taking on that role in the gaming community. But I really wonder what Nintendo could pull off if they let go of that. |

I'm really enjoying it. I wouldn't doubt if I kept going back to melee to play more competitively lol. I took it upon myself to learn how to play Olimar, the new (imo) Iceclimbers. I loved the iceclimbers in melee, and I like them in Brawl, but I've been into the whole playing new character mood.
