I'm eligible to take APUSH and AP BIO, but I don't know which one to take.
I don't want to take both because I really don't want to deal with that amount of work. Right now I'm leaning more towards AP BIO because science has always been really easy for me, and right now I have a 101 average in my honors bio class. On the other hand, a lot of people have told me that APUSH is so much easier than the other, so I was just wondering what you guys think. Have you taken AP BIO or APUSH or even both? |

Which do you want to take less in college?
In high school I took APUSH and it was pretty easy, but I'm fine with history. I know some people find it hard, though. AP bio at my school was a lot of work, and I didn't take it because I suck at science. I kind of wish I had that credit so I didn't have to take science now, but I didn't want it to hurt my GPA and chances of getting into colleges. But, then not having it out of the way could hurt my GPA now. You can weigh your options considering that sort of thing, but personally I'd recommend you take APUSH. Most schools require you to take a US history class, whereas you don't have to take bio, if you're not opposed to other sciences. Oh also, what year are you? Are you planning on taking other APs? Because if not and you're a halfway decent student, you should go ahead and take both. |

Have you taken AP BIO or APUSH or even both? I'm in AP BIO right now and it is, personally, very rewarding. I have a particular interest in science and the teacher is really great so it's a stellar course. The work isn't that demanding, but, if you intend to pass the AP Exam, I suppose a lot of study might be in order. As goes my class, it's just a lot of reading, tests, labs, and essays. But, it's a great opportunity for learning - if you're a fan, do it. |

I take AP US right now and I'll take AP Bio next year. I know both require a lot of reading. AP US is pretty alright if you just read the chapters and keep a steady pace. If you don't do that you're basically screwed. People tell me AP Bio is the same, but they find it more interesting. Personally I think it boils down to whether you like history or science better. I think in the future AP Bio will be more profitable.

APUSH is AP U.S. History.
I'd just take whichever subject you're more interested in, but if your other classes are pretty light, try shooting for both. |

I took APUSH last year and liked it, for the most part. I'm not all that fond of Biology :-/

Bio only goes up to honors at my school for some reason. Bio Honors and APUSH are two of the toughest classes at my school. Everybody else says it's pretty easy, but I guess my school is just weird. I'm getting killed in Biology.
Anyways.. I think it really comes down to the subject you're interested in and the teachers, too. Most of the time, if I get to choose classes, I'd choose the teachers if there's only one that teaches the specific subject. |

Wait, you're eligible to take APUSH or AP Bio as a freshman? :O Take whichever comes easiest to you. I enjoyed both courses, but especially AP Bio because there's just something about Biology that makes me feel squishy inside! [No, not really, but you get the point.]
However, I'd highly consider taking both if I were you. Freshman year is by far the easiest, and if you're already eligible to take both, I'm pretty sure you'd be able to handle the workload of two AP's if the rest of your schedule is just regular Freshman subjects. |

Wow, both of those courses are at least junior level courses here.

We don't have those at my school, hah. The only APs we have are Calc and Chem. And our Chem AP class doesn't exactly get us ready for the test...

Now that I think about it, I'm glad that my school offers the AP courses that it does. It's going to be hell when it's time to take AP exams though

I'd say go with APUSH, that was so much fun when I had it in high school.
