I'm surprised no one have made a thread about this movie. I finally watched it last night, and it was a very powerful movie. The irony of it was I watched it the night before Martin Luther King Jr's birthday today. The actors that they chose to play it were great, and Denzel was amazing. I love Forrest Whitaker in the movie. The girl who played Samantha Booke was really gorgeous. I was so mad at the part where Forrest was in the car with his family and accidently hit the pig, and those white men told him to pay $25 for it. I hated those stupid little white boys. I wanted the black dude to beat up the kids so bad. Another part that pissed me off was the part where Denzel and the debate team kids saw the lynching of the black men. All in all, I really enjoyed the debate battles, as it was very interesting. I loved this movie.

I really want to see this movie. I'm never into these kind of movies. But this one really caught my eye. I'm planning on seeing it soon.

I really recommend you watch it. It's a very powerful movie that teaches you how far we have come from the segregation we once had here in the US.

this movie was awsome. i really enjoyed it too. The part that pissed me off a lot was when that stupid kid quit the debate team just b/c Denzel was a radical/communist. Ugh that made me mad. But i loved it and i can't wait to get it on dvd.

i agree with you........it was a great movie. blacks had to suffer alot back in the day and that is why i'm sooooo glad i didn't live back then. all the actors were pretty good. the lynching part was really sad. All around a very powerful movie...........[alot of tears though] thumbsup.gif

I was going to go see this, because I would've gotten 20 points extra credit in my Sociology class, but I ended up not going. The movie theatre that's closest to my house isn't getting any new movies (like Sweeney Todd and The Great Debaters) and since I didn't feel like driving 40minutes through the snow, I didn't go. I'll catch it when it plays on HBO.
