Because someone suggesting something means it automatically should be done. I suggest you quit staff, you should get right on that.

I remember certain people getting truck loads of shit for doing a hiring like this. Not that I'm disagreeing with who was hired, but still. If it works out though, it works out. No use crying over spilled milk. They decided to hire people who were recommended by members of the community. Sure, it felt like more of popularity situation than anything else, but such is life. XD I think the major reason there wasn't a thread made with the names of the people who are being considered for staff to be discussed about was because it's usually an invitation for memeber bashing. But I guess how the nominees deal with it would show something about how they'd handle that kind of thing as a mod. Because as we all know they'll take some shit... whether it's in this thread or through PMs when warning someone.
What would be nice though, is if conversation here (not in this thread, since it's a mod related thread) but in general, if conversation didn't have to be about staff so often. Sometimes it seems like all people talk about is staff, staff, staff. What staff is doing, who is on staff, who's fucking who on staff, who's backstabbing on staff, who's abusing their position, blah blah blah blah blah. And I don't know what's up with Jane. She's been the topic of mod performance for what seems like forever. |

I've seen everyone around quite i bit... i mean Jane pops up backstage every few days I don't know how much good a roll call would do, but I mean since you suggested it we should get right on it ![]() what is that supposed to mean Mike? Is there something you would like to discuss with me? |

I'm really iffy about Jane's position as Moderator (heh, swear I didn't do that on purpose). I just looked through her posts and saw that she's been pretty active around the community daily and has definitely always been a presence at Introductions - but I also saw no "modly" duties. Now, obviously, there is SO much more to being a mod than closing, moving, etc. but there should always be that balance. In other words, a mod should do both, and I'm not seeing Jane step up and perform the technical side of being a mod, especially in regards to warning.

There's nothing going on at CB. Everything is dying. Personally, I think Jane is doing a fine job. |

Immature. It's beyond me why this is not obvious. I think it's very obvious, probably even to him. I think that now (generally) things are being geared towards easy going and goofy. Josh has shown that he's smart and capable of being serious when need be (for example, the "smart" thread). He's just sort of a moron sometimes (not literally, you know what I mean...I hope). |

No... he's a full time moron. But what do I care, this place is already dead. Might as well make everyone a mod now.

In all seriousness: Thanks, you're right. I do know that I'm being an idiot. I'm only a fool when I feel like it. I think that being easy going is a good thing. No sense in being serious all the time when I don't have to be. That would be no fun. I'm not a court judge, I'm a goderator... There's a difference. ;] No... he's a full time moron. But what do I care, this place is already dead. Might as well make everyone a mod now. "It's not in my best interest to say this |

I honestly think that as long as a mod is posting and not blatantly missing things that need to be moderated (posts in a thread where there's a conflict without saying anything, refuses to respond to PMs asking for help resolving a conflict, etc). That's what always gets me when people say they haven't seen anyone doing "modly" duties.
If she has an activity problem, she has an activity problem. But I'd rather her be pretty active in the community than not here at all, unless, as I said, she's outright missing things when she's here. I just don't think that's the case. |

I just think that the community doesn't use the report feature enough. Seems like the only time it gets used is when someone is joking around. I rarely get a report that's serious. If you guys see something that needs to be "tweaked" you should report it right away. Jane, as far as I'm concerned I think she's fine.

If you look through Janes posts, she's been here. Sure there have been a few days when she hasn't posts, but I think we're all guilty of that (we all have lives). She's awesome when she's here. I kinda wish she would voice her opinions a bit more, though.

Why is it that when someone even makes mention of having a life, people get all groany and roll their eyes over it? I mean sure, we DO have lives and it's not our absolute top priority to spend that life on CB, but no one's making that argument. If someone has something going on and can't come on the forums for a day and didn't post letting us know about it, okay, who cares? It happens. I'm not trying to get defensive here, and I'm not trying to defend Jane - she's perfectly capable of doing that herself if she wants to. I'm just saying that I'd seriously rather focus on anything mods might be doing wrong rather than saying they aren't doing enough. There are obviously situations where activity does become an issue, but I don't think this is one of them.

the issue is not what the staff is doing about her activity. the issue is whether or not she IS active or not. pay attention.
the STAFF has already established between ourselves that she is still pretty active. why would we do something about her inactivity if shes not inactive? |

You guys are looking way more into this then what is needed. Nothing is wrong with Jane remaining on staff, if she gets incredibly inactive and hasn't posted in the absence thread about it then it will be brought up and she will receive PMs about it and if she doesn't reply in the amount given to her then she will lose her position. Jane has always been here she always comes back and looks around and she has posted quite a bit recently. Yes she may have not done any mod duties because how often is there going to be something to do with the hand full of staff we do have now? I'm not seeing any bad complaint for her to remain on staff except for what Kaycee said.
Dani, very well put I have to say as well. I think Dani is completely right. Thomas, no one is going to slap her wrists, why the hell would we do that o_O being on staff is a voluntary position and I haven't seen anything that she has done to take away that position. Shes active now and she wasn't in the past because she was in a play and had practice and the actual plays to do and now that its over shes been around. She's said shes going to step up her game and I have full trust in her that she will stay by her word. |
