I only read to like post 42 and all I have to say is this:

Is it going to make Josh any more important having a title when he can already do what's being asked to be done with his current status? I'm not saying don't promote him to whatever we're talking about, but what's to hold him back from doing it now, than say with a new title?

^ Cuz, It wouldn't be the same. Like julia said. cB is all about the status! People want to see that title with their name.

Underlined part = read
then here:
QUOTE(Uronacid @ Oct 8 2007, 11:39 PM) *
I wish Suz would have just replied to my face instead of hiding backstage. Oh well, this is for you Suzette:

I get the impression that you want me to "work" for a staff position. I feel like a dog. I feel like someone is waving a treat in front of my face. Trouble is, the treat is a big juicy piece of broccoli and not a big piece of steak. You don't get it. I wouldn't mind doing being on staff, but I don't care if I'm not hired either. I would do my best and probably be one of the best additions to staff you have ever seen. However, I will never humor you by applying durring a hiring season. If you want to hire a less qualified person. That's fine. I don't care. I have fun on this website as it is. I don't need to be a Staff Member to continue to have fun.

Oh, I also get the impression that you want me to help out of the goodness of my heart, that I don't need a position, and that there is no reason to put me on staff. You're right, I don't need a position, but at the same time don't expect me to jump in and answer questions that cannot be answered by your staff. You're paying your staff whether you realize it or not. Whether it be though appreciation or recognition as a staff member. If I'm going to be responsible for answering technical questions I want to be payed for it. I hope you understand. To be frank, this would be a give/take relationship and not a take take take from Josh's shallow pool of kindness relationship. It takes time and effort to respond to technical posts, this is the kind of time that I don't have if I'm not going to be recognized or appreciated for it.

I'm glad that your staff knows how to appreciate a helping hand. As for you, I'm not so sure. Appreciation goes a long way. Listening to them. I know that you don't want to be like the old staff. If you don't want to be like them. Then try something new. Start by replying here instead of hiding backstage. *sarcastic* I hope I showed enough tact for you.

I know that you're talking backstage about me because you asked Holly to talk to me. She didn't tell me anything about what was said. I'm just not an idiot. If you're not talking here. You are talking about there.

Seriously, stop with the useless posts. I won't be including them when looking over your post in the 'applying to be an official member' thread so you might as well stop. Some of your recent posts are spam.

Lol Mona. Take out that dominatrix whip please. Lighten up, and let me see your body wet. If I get denied for OM status, I'll... well..we'll see that in 3-4 days what will happen.

It'll be like Saddam Hussein not getting his right to have one last day of sex, before execution.

Me not saying it earlier = me lightening up. You're just spamming your way to the OM title. You want to joke around and lighten the mood, I get that, but do it where it's more appropriate.

Hmm, I've read over this, and I appreciate the effort to put this idea in motion, but i guess it's just been completely f**ked over by people who dont know how to appreciate a good thing when they have it.

Generally, when someone is hired for a position that is high in demand in order for a certain establishment to succeed, they dont make their sole candidate work for said position. they just give it to them, and try to keep them there by means of some sort of payment.

Exactly why I think createblog is stupid. They don't do a lot things that make sense. You're wasting your time trip. The admins are kids. They don't have real jobs. They just rule the way they think they should by following the footsteps of failures in front of them.

I can't say that they do everything wrong though. Just the hiring bullshit. I have given up on a position in staff. I really don't give a shit. I will continue to help those people on this site who have a give/take mentality. As for those who expect me to work for a "treat". Naw, forget that.

Being an admin or staff member is for more simple than than most of the staff members make it out to be. Don't bother telling me I have no idea. My significant other is a staff member. I know.

'Cause we all love compromises:

Say we do create a CreateBlog Support forum (a subforum under Support forums) and move all questions about the tracker, problems during submission, etc. in there. Josh also does become the Tech support guy. HOWEVER, I agree that he should work for it. He seems to be knowledgeable with the tracker (at least enough to answer questions) but with his rep of being an "a-hole", he should start helping out now before being promoted. Josh, you're going to be dealing with a whole lotta newbies, some with intelligence, some without, so if you can show that deal with them just fine without being an "a-hole", then great, I'd be fine with it.

Do y'all really not get it? He's NOT going to work for anything. He honestly has nothing to gain out of this other than recognition, and createBlog as a whole has a bunch to gain from his help. /sigh

QUOTE(brownsugar @ Oct 9 2007, 12:26 AM) *
Wow, I had a better post before this but my computer froze. I'm just going to have to summarize what I said.

There where a couple topics made about you backstage. I replied in them. Should I not have replied in them and voiced my opinion? I said nothing that I won't say to you now, and that I wasn't open about in the beginning. If my stance on the issue is hiding backstage, then you you might as well say every post made backstage is "hiding" or that the others that brought up the issue were "hiding backstage" as well.

I'm glad you have fun on createBlog, and I hope this continues. Yes, I want you to work for a staff position. I hope it's not out of line to say that. But let's make sure we're talking about the same thing here. Staff Position is completely different than a created position just for you. It's unprecedented.

If I could see you help more on a daily basis with the tracker, by whole stance on this issue would change. Of course you should get appreciated for you work. But you're not the only member who helps and doesn't have a "special title" either. But yeah, more consistency from you could help reassure those who have doubts.

I'm not sure what you've been told, but of course I appreciate the help you and other members give. And of course we are all listening. If we didn't want to listen we wouldn't be discussing it in the first place. The admins would just say "NO!" and that would be that. However we are listening/discussing/and even leaving room for a change in the future.

Once again, there were two topics made about you backstage which I did not create. I didn't know I wasn't supposed to reply. I am talking about you in a completely neutral way, the same as I am doing here. I don't see why I am being targeted about this...there are many strong feelings about this, and 6-7 mods have been discussing it backstage. So why am I the one hiding? I have had posted my opinion on this which is what I have been backing up backstage (since there was an ongoing discussion about it) all evening. Also, I never asked Holly to talk to you.

There is nothing I have said backstage which can't be summarized in this post I just made. I have nothing to hide.

Suzette, everything you have said on this thread until this post has been vague or canned. What I mean by that is:

Vague, Your answers aren't your opinions on the situation nor do they contain anything but the obvious. They are "ifs" and "maybes". There is no solution involved. You're not saying no. You're not saying yes. You're not even asking questions. You're leaving everything in the air.

Canned, canned responses are just default replies. They aren't personal. Just stating the obvious. "Next hiring season he will get hired because he is a good candidate.", is a canned response. It's something that everyone knows. "If he continues to be a good boy.", is something that's just obvious.

Anyway, I do think that posts hidden backstage are just that, Hidden. It's unfortunate that your staff has to post back there for you to reply. I never liked how backstage was so secretive. It is unnecessary, but I think that there are often times that the backstage privileges are abused. Things aren't said upfront that are said backstage. Instead of being used for it's purpose it's a abused my people who do not openly express themselves. I'm not saying you have done this. I'm not saying rules should be put in place (that would be stupid). What I'm saying is that I would appreciate a more genuine response where I can see it rather than where I cannot.

How come I didn't call out the others? They can come if they want. In fact, I would appreciate it if they did. If there are others hiding backstage and not saying anything out here then they are even worse than you are, and I apologize for making it seem like it was just you I was talking about. I shouldn't point the finger. This goes for everyone who has seen, skimmed, isn't posting their point of view in, and posted backstage about this topic.

Yeah, um... you just about described my job. When you said:
QUOTE

The answer is... YES! :D Because I do it every single day. *sigh* I dont' want you to think that I do not appreciate your response. It's responses like these that get us somewhere. You learn things about me, and I learn how you feel. This is far more productive than stating the obvious.

Yeah, this is exactly what I'm saying. I'm not being prideful when I say that IT is my area of expertise. I'm being honest. I graduated from college with an associates degree that is sitting on my desk. It says "ASSOCIATE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY/COMPUTER NETWORK SYSTEMS". It goes beyond that too. I actually have a job in the field.

I think the problem here is that the admins want to remain in control of everything. And this area that we're talking about is beyond their reach. They don't know how to help those who have IT related questions. They know that Josh may be the only person who CAN help, aside from a few others that probably dont want to step up to the plate for the same reasons as his. They don't like that they're left which only one choice, and that they can't control the situation. So they would rather just put a stop to the entire thing, instead of swallow their pride and let Josh help the community on his own terms.

Their attempt at controlling this situation is trying to make Josh work for a position that is crucial to CB's success. Their mistake is thinking that Josh really gives a damn either way.
