 OMG!!!! first chapter!!!!!  is is bad to say that im not so happy about the cover art?   dont get me wrong, its good, but not at all what i thought it would be.oh well, maybe its like robert, it will grow on me |

i was like... "huh, interesting" at first. then i was lyke ZOMG, CHESS BOARD. i think there's going to be some sort of battle, whether it's Bella for her life, or maybe the pieces represent the strength/power of the people or groups that are going to fight.
i was up until like three, reading the chapter over and over. i think mom's gonna take me to B&N today so I can preorder it! |

So, if some vampire had the ability to change her memory, would they be messing with her mind or her body? Because memory is a result of the body, various neurotransmitters in all areas of the brain, etc... Emotions has ties in bodily functions but is also very much linked to the brain, but ... would that be the mind or the body? I really don't think it's wise for her to make such a differentiation and feel that she's just pulling at strings when she reasons this out. That and I feel that her writing really isn't particularly good and her characters are very flat. Edward seems like such an interesting character, but his intrigue really only lasts through 3/4 of Twilight. And I can't stand Bella. |

Bianca, I didn't think the cover would look like that either, but I think the chess image is really important in hinting to what the book will be about. Since there's a queen and a pawn, someone looking at the cover would probably assume that the white side wins the battle (because a pawn is the weakest piece in chess), but the red pawn might also win against the queen/white side. Because even though the queen is the most powerful piece in chess, a pawn can be used to win since there are eight of those but only one queen. If pawns are manipulated correctly, one of them can get rid of the queen and king. I hope that explanation makes sense, but it might not if you don't know how to play chess, lol. |

I have a few theories about the cover...
The pawn is red. Pawns are weak in general, so maybe it's Bella? What if she gets hurt? Or maybe the red means she's deadly, and an unexpected threat. Or Bella could be the white queen, after she gets turned?  edit: haha yes it is pawn. fixed it. |

New Moon was my favorite actually, despite the sadness. It's the book with the most "true" emotion, IMO. Plus the cool European and Volturi stuff.
