When a homeless person come to me and ask me for money I don't give to them bing afriad they will spend on drugs so I take them to McDonalds or subway or something and buy them a sandwich.

Born hustler...back in the day when i was 5 and i actually didn't know any better. I got 10 dollars off a homeless guy

me and my mom were coming out of a local chinese place, and there's always this italian girl with two little kids around the corner.
there really aren't many homeless people around here, but when i see that girl and the kids..it makes me want to cry.
anyways, back on topic...
i was just going to walk back there and give her a few dollars, because i knew she wouldn't spend it on drugs or anything. i had recently just been paid 30 dollars for allowance...guess what i did? stopped my mom, told her what i was going to do, she started crying...
i went to gerbs, which is right by the chinese place, got some milk, water, chocolate, toothbrushes, toothpaste, some soap...anddd...something else. oh. blankets. THEN. i went back to the chinese place, explained to them why i was in there again, ordered some food, they gave me a huge discount, and me and the guy from the chinese place went back there, and gave it all to them. we all started crying...
every time i go to that chinese place, i always remember to have money with me, and i always buy them food and sometimes clothes.
well one day, about 3 months after this started, we were there...i peaked around the corner...she wasn't there! i went inside and asked the chinese guy about it, and he gave me this note from her, that basically said she was so grateful, and that i deserve the best in my future...because of the clothes and such i had bought her, she had got a job, and a very small 2-room house, within a month.
about a year after she disappeared, she happened to be at the chinese place, with her children-and her new husband. she was talking to the chinese guy, who still happens to work there to this day. she introduced me to her husband, and she had told me that her job paid for her to get her GED, then she got a full scholarship to go back to college, and met her husband and moved in with him after she finished school.
guess what she's doing now? web/graphic design. mmhmm, really.
there's times i want to give up on everything, then i think of her and i'm instantly happy.
this one person and her children changed me, and my life. she helped me while i helped her. she's tried to pay me back for all the stuff i bought her and did for her, but i always explain the fact that i'm a better person is all the re-payment i need.
this all happened when i was 12/13.

If you give a man $10, he'll be happy for a day. Change the world, and he might be happy for a lot longer.

Better to get involved with local and national politics. Lobby your Congressperson to adopt a positive position on Social Policy, find out what bigger organizations there are in your area, and join up with them. Together, you can change their lives, not just their days.

I nearly always donate to homeless people, it's something my mother and I were extreeeemely staunch of doing. I understand that there's that risk that they'll use it for something else, but that mixture of pity and guilt is so strong that I give them whatever change I have (sadly, plastic is all I've been carrying around lately).

I've never gotten the chance to actually bring someone to go get food like Naomi has, although I really do admire people who do that. My friend gave her lunch to a homeless man on New Years Eve, and came back to the same spot the next day to give him lunch again but he wasn't there anymore. ):
