Hm, why would the mods encourage a member to do something bad? or w/e. They don't seem like mod material to me if their ENCOURAGING members to do certain things they know will get them in trouble for.

Yeah it might be a combination, but it's not solely because of bashing. Some people act incredibly stupid and presumptuous, and they need to be told how stupid they're acting. If not they assume people think they're funny or that it's okay to make those assumptions and they keep doing it. It's not Kryo that's responsible for this. It's dumb people but we have to "be nice" because this is a PG-13 forum and we can't hurt their feelings.

I don't see a problem with member bashing, as long as it's not too excessive and everyone doesn't jump on the bandwagon and bash the entire thread(unless, of course, it is just that dumb). Plus, if you're going to bash people, at least make it clever/witty/funny. Someone (in a debate) once tried to bash me by making the assumption that my mother had had several abortions, and that she slept around. That's stupid member bashing. At least make it as truthful as you can.

And yes, some mods are too strict, some can be argued that they aren't strict enough, but I don't see a mod's position as a mommy or daddy. They have real moms and dad (most of the time) for that, and if they're not getting through to them, what makes you think you're going to. I think mods/staff should keep the forums organized etc, and provide help when help is needed. I know excessive bashing can be bad, and I see it fine to step in there. The majority of this forum is teenagers/young adults, so to expect everything to happen in an orderly manner with no bashing is quite ridiculous. We should make a forum for people who get easily offended, and one for people who can speak their mind. The goody goodies can go to the easily offended place, and others can go to the "speak your mind" place and speak their mind.

I meant to add, or maybe I added to a diff, that the 14 year olds that come here and don't get offended are usually chill and cool. The ones that come here all defensive-like about their age or get offended at all the little things are the annoying nuisances.

Socially, people were way uptight. Girls dressing the way they do nowadays would be shot, homosexuality (while still today but to a lesser extent) was incredibly shunned, racism wasn't wrong, etc etc. By saying things are changing, I'm saying that people are way less strict regarding behavior and speaking out and voicing their opinions. It's funny what I get accused of. Jealousy, attention whoring, power hungry. They seem to forget that I voluntarily left the staff. Not once, but twice. They seem to forget that if damaging the forum was what I wanted to do, I could have abused my mod position moreso than the current mods are doing.

I make up my opinions from facts and reasoning, and not to suit anybody but myself. If people don't like my opinions, it makes little difference as I don't solicit their opinions or votes.

I don't think anything ON cB is killing it. I think it is what it lacks that is doing that. It simply doesn't have what it used to, which is a close-knit group of people who didn't HAVE to resort to childish little bashing, or trolling, or pathetic signatures to have fun on cB, because they actually got to know each other, were intelligent, witty, and generally NOT out to 'win' at the game of cB.

Seriously. EVERYTHING is just a battle here. I can't remember the last time I really enjoyed posting in a thread around here, simply because checking in with Feedback/Backstage/Whatever grief has cropped up in the Lounge that by the time I'm finished with that, I have to go do something else.

I'm the first to admit that I LOVED cB drama. Because it is a way just to chill out, over-act, and just blow of steem. But the thing is, we haven't had any cB DRAMA in ages. We've had genuine cB fighting. Everyone is so concerned that they MUST look intelligent, but MUST not appear to care too much, and MUST be witty, and MUST be a good mod, and MUST jump on the 'mods are nazis' bandwagon, and MUST provoke something that no one does anything that they WANT to do anymore, like go to Debate, or discuss entertainment.

I think the reason people don't like cB anymore isn't because it has turned into a group of over-hormoned angst bunnies bitch at one another over trivial things. Rather, it has turned into this BECAUSE people don't like cB. And these things aren't even trivial in the sense that it's 'just the internet' (which, while I'm on the subject, is a really, really stupid argument on so many levels), but rather that it is trivial WITHING the internet. If you got a bit of a bitchy warning, DEAL. do what everyone else used to do: ignore it, and just chill. There is no need to make a scene, because all it does is perpetuate the problem. Likewise, if you think someone is deliberately stirring stuff, ignore it! People will realize that in their own time that whoever it is is a dull dimwit, and move on. EVERYTHING doesn't have to be the next battle in whatever the war of the day happens to be.

cB is suffering from a lack of real members, as opposed to brash, larger-than-life-and-twice-as-full-of-it cariacatures of members. The people who made cB great have either left, are lurking on the verge of leaving because of the ones who remain, or are hanging around acting like pricks, and trying to justify this by looking for someone to blame for their own asisnine behaviour.

The reason cB is dying (although I would like to believe that it isn't terminal) isn't because it is full of bullshit, but rather because it ISN'T full of fun, good-humour, and wit.

cB isn't dying from cancer, it's dying from oxygen deprivation.

No. That would be a prime example of perpetuating everything I think is an issue with cB. It won't be fixed by accusations or petty mud-slinging. It will be fixed when people get their heads together, and enjoy cB, rather than playing it.

I see that mods bullshitting and I call them out on it. If you see something and won't address the issue, what do you hope to achieve?
