Are you scared to make a new thread b/c you think it's already been made?, Y/N

The title says it all. :]

Most of the time, I'm reluctant to make a new thread b/c I don't want to look through so many pages and for everyone to respond with an obnoxious "it's already been done [insert link]"

Oh yeah someone called me out on that earlier claiming something about rules when they had neglected to review the rules to see that you can make another thread if the other has been inactive for 6 months or more.

No, I'm not really afraid to, its just I can't usually think of anything really interesting for a topic, and thats why I don't usually make them. I do occasionally though if I come up with something good.

I hate using search because its never accurate when i look up anything.
When i make topics,I do sometimes wonder if the topic has already been made.

Yess! Whenever I make new topics, they usually start off with "You can delete this if there's another topic.."

And I agree w. Diana, whenever you search it's never accurate pinch.gif

I sometimes search before I start a topic, but flood control is freakin 30 seconds. ermm.gif I wish I could be official member again once I get more active. But most of the time...I don't search.

Yeah, and I've had times where I was so confident that no similiar thread was posted before, and so I make one. Then my hopes get shot down when someone posts a link to the other topic. sad.gif

Usually, I would just search for the main keywords first. If there's no topic on it. I'll just go ahead and make it. But if I know its a popular topic, I'll just leave it.

Sometimes...I will search first but i really don't want to look through all the pages, maybe just the first two.

It's gotten a lot better. I remember back in the day when people were so anal about making duplicate topics. I don't see that happening so much anymore.

I have that problem with every forum I've gone to. I can't always find the time to check and see if the thread has or hasn't been done or not. Luckily I have never copied anyone though. I hope it stays that way.

And we dont delete topics, we close them.... tongue.gif & yeah I don't like using cB search. I use google and I just advanced search and search within cB.

I've always wondered. Why dont the mods just delete pointless topics?

YES. I used to post really unnecessary threads in message boards before. But after I learned my lesson from them, I am forever afraid of making new ones. ermm.gif

Well, most duplicate topics these days are intentional. =P

Because it's harder to recover a deleted topic if the topic just happened to be legit. And we're kind of cautious about deleting things here and there.

Why shouldnt this be deleted
http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=180485

They're cursing. Just because the forum is closed, does not mean it is not viewable. Whats the point of closing the topic, if it is still viewable? Like Suzette stated, there are kids that read these forums..
