Does anyone else get tired of seeing so many layout sites all over the place? How many layouts sites does the world need? Half of them can't create layouts anyway , but thats not the point. The point is why are there so damn many. Its like a trend that only some people can accomplish.
(This is dissing layout sites either its just wondering. Because some people have good ones that If I didn't make my own layouts all the time I would hit up) |

It started so long ago, that it's just too hard to even count how many layout sites there are on the net. There are so many that you can't even visit them all in one day lol. But yeah I guess people think it's cool or popular but some of them actually just want to provide people with layouts to use.

There's a ton of them. I think it sucks when all of the other sites overshadow the good ones. It's like someone could make really really good layouts but then the ones that throw stuff together that the teenies like become popular.

^ Exactly. I've seen some good people out there who don't really get any "attention" so to speak. There is nothing wrong with having a lot or providing for people but can we get some originality out there? But some are good and I'm glad they are around but somethings its just like can you make a layout site not for the sole purpose of the trend or the purpose that your friends love your layouts but because you have something different or even slightly unique to bring to the table.
Kara you're a boob. (A cool boob though. You can wear sunglasses but you're still a boob) |

PEER PRESSURE! i remember back in middle school, you were considered cool if you could make "banners and layouts"; except none of them could actually make anything. seriously. some of them even resorted to jocking. and if someone actually made their own, they'd be horrible, no joke.

there are some layouts sites i absolutely love b/c of their originality and skills (: but there are just a million sites that have all the same brushes from dorkifieddesigns and peachblush and all use the fonts that everyone has. plus most of those sites don't really know how to do much but do stuff like stroking text and making stuff glow and have drop shadows. i <33 the sites that can actually provide you stuff besides those banners you can make on paint. like having your own fonts, brushes, and stuff like that.

^^^ I agree, there are so many, I have a layout site and I started it for practice because I hope to become a web/graphic designer and maybe go into advertising, I don't care if I don't get any attention, I do it for fun, truth is I don't get any support from my friends.

Just running through those Xanga layout blogrings gives me a headache. A lot of them make things that are just way too minimalistic. I used to see some way back in the day that were just plain hideous, no offense. Everything was flashy, used Comic Sans which i happen to hate, etc etc. and even back a few years i ago i found it hard to find a Xanga layout that I actually liked. CB was my main resource!
I've had a couple layout sites myself, which i don't use anymore, but i have gotten mostly positive feedback, so that encouraged me to continue. But others are just so...out there. |
