:( Official Member Rule, "Must have a minimum of 5 posts per day"

I CAN'T DO IT.

I joined a while back (3 years ago), and I was inactive for a while; it causes me to have a teeny "avg. posts per day," and I really want to be an Official Member. I don't know why. I JUST HAVE TO :( I know it's the same as being an Official Promoter or whatever, but...

I don't know.
It would be easier to create a new screenname and start over,
but I am loyal to this screenname and all its wonderful history.

So.. maybe we can invent a rule for users like me (joined a long time ago, were inactive at first, but later became more active) that covers the min. of 5 posts p. day? :D

^_^

That's a good idea, actually. Though I don't think official member status should have ANYTHING to do with PPD's at all. Quality > quantity after all..

It was brought up a while ago about having some guidelines in place for members who have been around for a while but have low ppd and want to become official members again. I don't know what ever happened to that discussion but I'm open to having some guidelines in place.

How about members who are more active with a low PPD get a mod who knows them or has seen them post a lot of quality stuff for a while to recommend them for Official Member? That way, it's sort more authorized :)
But, that's just a suggestion.

And MOTM should be allowed to be an Official Member. eyebrowes.gif

Yea theres been discussion about this. I forget her name but she use to ask all the time if she could just have the status anyway. I mean I guess I don't see the harm in it but I don't know I could see where others may think it wasn't fair because there are members out there that were extremely inactive and were active enough to get their ppd up high enough to have the status..

No, I meant that those who win MOTM should be an Official Member. haha

^Yea thats why I was confused.

You have to be an official member to be nominated or voted for.

QUOTE
Rules:
- You must only make one nomination.
- You may not nominate yourself.
- You cannot nominate someone who's already won in the past 2 months.
- The member must be an Official Member/Designer.
- Staff may not make nominations but they can name members who stand out to them.

...Well, I am an Official Promoter already. Someone want to change me to an Official Member, please? happy.gif

I forgot about that rule for MOTM. I also didn't think about it b/c I won, and I'm not an O.M.

Well I think all they need to do is just change the rule to say

- The member must be an Official Member/Designer/Promoter.

I just don't think you should be handed the official member status. Oh and I just thought of the name, Melissa was never given the official member status after become really active for a little while and asking about it numerous times. So I guess I just can't see how you can just make a topic about it and just have it handed to you. But hey, its an internet forum I don't really care what status you have. I just think everyone should be treated fairly and equally.

Well, I agree with you. But, I have been active for a while. I was also active in 2005 for the summer. And also, I brought this up as a way for other members who have become recently active but joined a while back with a low PPD to have a chance to become an Official Member without having to create a new screenname.

I think that is fair.

I joined cB three years ago originally only because I used it for scripts / layouts for Xanga. I never thought I would become a part of the forums, but I did later on.

I realize that you have tons more posts than I do, but I still try to be a "quality" member. And as mzkandi said, it is quality not quantity that counts. (Not saying that you aren't a "quality" member).

Oh believe me I know what your talking about. I was back on here in 05 for only xanga stuff and didn't really know there was a community until I came back and I had to make this name and the ppd was always up down because of my activity. But I suppose I just was active for a extreme amount of time. But yea I went through your posts and you make at on of posts per day and if it doesn't change then sure I think you should deserve the status. But I suppose I don't see the big deal in it if you have the same stuff as a official member being an official promoter.

Oh I don't know if you thought this or what not. I never said you weren't a good member. I think you make quality posts all the time but I mean it still goes for all the others out there.

But hey if this thread changes the staff views and gives others another chance to have the official member status then so be it.

^ Ah, sorry. I scrolled up really fast and checked it all in a blur.
Hi Kiera. lol

To insurmountable~ Ah, yeah, I felt a little accused or something. But, thanks. :)
As I mentioned in my first post, I'm not really sure why it's so important to me. I just have always wanted it, but I didn't feel like posting 1000 random posts a day just to achieve the PPD... b/c then they would all become stupid replies to threads I didn't even care about.

Just that one post that her posts will just become pointless and made it topics that don't mean anything to her? Sorry your posts came off as really spam-ish and unnecessary

That doesn't sound like too bad of an idea. I mean, old members should be allowed to be on Official Member status. I agree with the whole guidelines idea. It would seem more fair.

You need to be OM to be considered for OMOTM.

^ Old members who have become active in the past few months, right? Because that would make it a lot more fair; they would basically be getting 5 PPD if it weren't for the fact they joined months/ years ago... ^_^

And again, asking an admin/mod to recognize you as someone who is active and productive is a good way to testify to deserving OM. But there can be problems there, too. shrugs*

The idea of taking a look at a member's recent activity and posts was mentioned before..somewhere. That could be done.

True, but this seems more fair and if members have this option from now on, better late than never.

Well, you know how there's an option here:
QUOTE
Add a static link to us in your Xanga, Myspace, Blogger, Livejournal, or website. If you do not have one, please PM an Admin addressing why you'd like to become an Official Member.

That only pertains to the static link requirement, BUT, could something similar be done with regards to the PPD requirement?

That. And wouldn't your post be considered spam if you're just saying that mine are spam?

O_o

It took me a while at first to realize you were responding to insurmountable. Haha. I was thinking x_X "I never called her a spammer..."

That is basically the same question I am asking. ^_^
Said it way better than I did.

hmm, would I be considered an old member? I would like to nominate myself. Then again, I'd like to be an "official member." haha. What's the difference, honestly? I know my post total isn't exceptional, but anyone who has ever read one of my posts knows that on average they are about 15 times longer than the typical posts. That should count for something...

i think it was anna who worked hard to regain her official membership, so it doesn't really seem fair to just hand it over seeing as you've been here a while. if i remember, anna can give you a run for your money on this since i believe it was her that struggled to get the 5 ppd after leaving for a while.

Sorry, but who are you directing your comment at?

I don't understand why people are saying the membership will be just "handed over." That was not my intention at all.
I am asking for another way to obtain the Official Member status without having to have the PPD if you were absent for a long time.

I'm sure that Anna can give me a "run for my money." But, she probably would have appreciated it if another rule or exception like this was made when she was struggling to get back to the minimum.

People who are applying will still have to follow all the other guidelines and be required to have something else (which we are not sure of, yet) INSTEAD of a 5 PPD.

Anna, of course, would have been able to use this considering she is one of cB's most highly respected members and has contributed so much.

I mean, many people could have it easily handed it to them if there is only the PPD rule. All they have to do is get a new screenname and post for a few days, and voila! They have all the requirements.
