relation ship break, i just need to talk to someone Options

me and my bf have been going out for six months
and on tuesday he all of a sudden started asking me how i knew that i loved him
and stuff like that
and i asked him if he really loved me
he said he wasnt sure :[
then he said people have been telling him we wont last, and he should explore his options
and stuff like that
then he said we should take a "break" while he thinks about things
even though i was sad, i couldnt convince him not to go on a break so i agreed
yesterday we went out and at first it was akward but by the end, it was like we were still together
nothing is different
except were not going out.
today we hung out
and nothing was different

he said he wouldnt date other girls and i said i wont date other guys
so i dont understand why were even on a break

and he tells me he loves me
but it hurts when he says that because now i am not sure if he really does love me

and i act like i am fine with everything when i am with him, but the minute im alone i get depressed
