some of my friends rub their skin with erasers, which give them extremely deep cuts. I say that it's the same thing as cutting but they disagree. so i have two questions: do you think it's equivalent to cutting? and how can i get them to stop (i don't know why they don't stop i heard it hurts EXTREMELY bad)

Oh, God. That's horrible..
I think it's equivalent to cutting if blood comes out. They're mutilating themselves. And it basically means the same thing.
You could get them to use rubberbands. That's what my sister did to stop cutting. Or you can just confront them about it.

If they're getting cuts from it, I'd say it was the same as cutting.
I don't know what to do about it, except talk to them, I guess.
I don't know that that's going to help, though. sad.gif

It can actually be worse than cutting, because it breaks the skin and makes an extremely irritated open sore. My 18-year-old brother does it, and I caught the 10-year-old trying to do it. I had a fit. It's extremely stupid, in my opinion. >=|

Eraser cutting? Haha, first time I heard about this.
We had stupid kids who'd go around and hurt each other with rubberbands. Like snap them on people's necks to the point of them getting a welt.
That sounds kind of desperate. Maybe they just get bored and don't really notice they do it?
Cutters will use anything to cut... but, damn, an eraser? Do you think they do it with the intent of actually seeing themselves bleed?

Perhaps in order to erase themselves from this wretched world. If cutting finds your happiness I'm all for it. People seem to cut themselves deeply in the face in order to correct their nose or ears or lips, so why not cut their arms or hands or legs or chests to find peace. If attention is what you seek you should tell them to erase their faces. Maybe then they'll deserve some real attention.

Can you really get cuts off erasers? that's so hard to believe, but if theres anyone intensionally making themself bleed, then its just the same thing as using a razor.-.-

Yeah, I think it's just a form of something to get attention. I mean, most people who cut don't announce it to the world, because the world thinks it's wrong and they don't want that comfort taken away from them.

It seems pretty immature if you ask me.

If you rub anything on the skin fast and long enough, you'll break the skin. Same concept as carpet burn, really. Same thing that happens if you scratch too much. It just happens faster with an eraser.

It's not a cut, it's more like an open sore.
