I am not really a Tolkien fan myself, but I thought it was interesting nonetheless.
BBC article. The title is the "Child of Húrin". More than a fully original work by JRR. Tolkien it is a book that has been created from unfinished notes he left behind; which have been adapted to a standard "book" format by a joint effort of the author's two sons. The Silmarillion was created in the same way, although that book is plain unreadable. Then again, this time we're brought a single story rather than the entire collection of notes Tolkien wrote for LoTR; hopefully this one will be more appealing to read. |
