When you are really into a book...

Do you completely lose yourself?
Almost like an orgasm? (haha, JK, bad analogy)

But, seriously - when I read, I'm actually very well trained to really get into the book and completely leave this world. Steven gets annoyed by this b/c I ignore him during my intense reading periods, and respond to questions usually 30 minutes later.

It's also great to read during school b/c it makes me look studious AND I'm really not even "in school"!

I read a LOT, so it's very easy for me to get into that stage of reading where you feel like you're in the book. I'm pretty sure that people who do not enjoy reading rarely reach this level of reading-highness.

I don't read leisurely much these days but I remember when I would be intensely reading a book that my mom will tell me something, even YELL at me, and I wouldn't have heard anything. Not even acknowledge that someone's telling me something. It was that bad. laugh.gif

Yeah, definitely. Especially if it's a book that I'm really interested in (like Harry Potter haha). For example, while I was reading the Harry Potter book on the train home, I almost missed my stop because I was so engrossed in the book.

Whenever I read a book and I really enjoy it, I can't focus on anything else. Any chance I get, I'll read it. It's pretty rude, but I don't pay attention to people who are talking to me while I'm reading. I choose to continue reading. Very rude, I know. pinch.gif

Yup, I forget about eerything and everyone. I picked up my brother 20 minutes late from daycare once because I was just too into it. I hate being bothered during those times/periods. Sometimes I get cranky which is bad but oh well.

I know exactly what you guys are saying. Like Mona said, I don't read as often as I'd like to anymore because of time issues but when I do, it takes a lot for me to put a good book down when I have to.

Oh man, yeah! My reading can get so intense that I tune anything going on around me out. Of course, it's highly annoying for those around.

know what you mean.
i get that way in school when i'm reading the short stories outta my lit book. The stores are only about 5 pages long and they're jam-packed with information, action, character, etc and if i'm not totally into it, i get confused. and once i get done, i'm just like wow.

it's actually really cool. :D

When I read I can like picture it so it feels like im standing right inside of, or becide the main character. I can read for hours on end. When I was reading the last Harry Potter book my mom said she would bang on my door to tell me something, I wouldent answer, she went in and I was like staring at the book, and never moved a muscle.

No if it's broing, I'll get distracted and can't read, like I have to reread sentences over and over again just to understand it.

I read too. It depends on the book too, if it's a book I want to read I can get into it almost to the point I can fall asleep on the book (but that's a good thing). I can't really get into a assigned book some school unless it's interesting.

I usually can't get into stuff that they assign for school, but sometimes there are a couple of books that I really get into.

I HAVE to read in a quiet room or I can't really concentrate at all.

Yeah, when I read I get VERY into it. I love imagining what happens in the story in my mind, and it takes me somewhere else entirely. When I've got my nose in a book, don't expect me to notice anything else for a very, long while. ph34r.gif

Definitely and I even create my own side stories about the characters. I lose myself completely until the pain sets in from sitting in a uncomfortable position. I really need a nice reading nook or something...

haha it depends on what kind of book. The ones where I completely lose myself in are suspenseful books. (ex. Locked in Time). But I'm not the person who just wants to finish it for the sake of just "finishing it" If you know what I mean

Yes when I read Harry Potter I feel as if I am not in my room or where ever I am reading it and I feel as if I am a ghost fallowing Harry and I practically become one with the book. I also feel like a grew up with Harry I mean come on Harry turned 17 in the last book witch was released in July and my Birthday is July 19, 1990 so it is like I turned 17 with Harry. Another thing about Harry Potter is that when my mom came in the room when I was reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows she looked at me and asked me if I was o.k. because I was crying so hard during a death scene.

When I'm really into a book (which is like all the time), I stay up till I can't possibly take it to read. That's why I finish like all my books in under a week. whistling.gif

Yes, definitely. When I read during lunchtime at school, my friends always have to repeat a question two or three times before I hear it and respond. Sometimes I feel a little disoriented too.
